The modern new building of the tower is very well done. Wide stairs with child safety locks lead up the "ladder to heaven", from which you have a wonderful view. …

September 15, 2024, Höhenweg Tromm – Odenwald

It is best to go back from the Irene Tower the way we came, the other way back is boring

Great tour through the Odenwald to the new Irene Tower. Conclusion : http://www.zur-kreuzgass.de/ . Great place on the terrace and Kerwe music in the background🥂🍷

The first long tour of the year to the highest elevation in the Odenwald in glorious sunshine is highly recommended. Once you have left the first steep climb from Wald-Michelbach behind you, you can mostly just enjoy the path over sunny fields. Great views, lots of benches and shelters and a few sculptures provide places to rest, talk and have fun! TIP: do it! -But not in midsummer😉!

The way over the Tromm is always worthwhile. On the one hand you can enjoy beautiful views of the valleys of the Odenwald and on the other hand you have a distant view over the Rhine plain as far as the Palatinate. Always worth a tour 😃

Despite my fear of heights, I managed to climb all 192 steps of the ladder to heaven! Unlike the Palatinate Forest, the Odenwald always has beautiful views. Stopped off at "Zur schönen Aussicht". Very positive: Every schnitzel on the menu is also available as a turkey schnitzel for no extra charge (!). Plenty of food and the price is completely reasonable considering the location.

Here in the Rhine plain it was foggy and grey today, but a look at the webcam in Wald-Michelbach shows ☀️so let's go to the wonderful and beloved Odenwald. It was so worth it, wonderful in the fresh air, soaking up nature and the sun. From the Trommturm, formerly Irenenturm, there was an impressive view of the sea of clouds towards the Rhine valley and a great view towards the Odenwald. The Katzenbuckel was visible in the distance. We went back via Tromm along the Gaderner Höhenweg. The destination was the Elchhaus 🫎in the Elchpark in Wald-Michelbach. There is a small and fine café inside. The young owner is a master confectioner and you can tell - very good👍🏼 After that a little walk around town. Such a beautiful day 👌🏼🌞

Today we moved to the wintry Odenwald. We were actually supposed to go to the Neckar Valley, but in the car we decided to change and we didn't regret it. From Waldmichelbach we are on the high path to Tromm and after a short climb we were rewarded with fantastic winter views. Even though the wind was blowing in the open areas at -5 degrees, we enjoyed the clear air and the frosty forest. Winter conjured up the most beautiful ice works of art in the landscape. The event ended with a stop for coffee and cake in the pastry shop in Waldmichelbach. This route is an absolute recommendation. 😃
