Hiking

Surrounded by green mountain slopes and rugged peaks, you'll hike through one of Vorarlberg's most botanically impressive regions – on the circular tour from the Nenzinger Himmel to the Pfälzer Hütte and over the Augstenberg.

Info/Facts: The hike starts in the Nenzinger Himmel, a secluded high valley that can only be reached by hiking bus from Nenzing. From there, the trail takes you approximately five kilometers in about two hours to the Pfälzer Hütte – through a beautiful alpine landscape with species-rich meadows that offer a veritable sea of color, especially in July. A real highlight is the blooming of the fire lily – bright orange and a rare sight.

After a stop at the Pfälzer Hütte, you can either return the same way or continue over the Augstenberg – a scenic high-altitude trail that takes you to the Gamperdona Inn on the edge of the Nenzinger Himmel. The Augstenberg offers breathtaking views of the surrounding peaks and makes the return journey a special experience. The entire loop is approximately twelve kilometers long and takes five to six hours. The trail requires surefootedness, especially on the descent from the Sareisjoch, which drops over 700 meters and can be slippery when wet. This tour should not be underestimated.

Protection and conservation: The region around the Nenzinger Himmel and the Pfälzer Hütte is located in a Natura 2000 area and is part of a valuable protected area. Here you will find not only impressive views but also habitats for numerous animal and plant species. To ensure this remains the case, it is important to stay on the marked trails and treat nature with respect. Please do not collect plants and avoid disturbing wildlife in any way – this is the only way to preserve this natural paradise.

Tip for the experience: This hike is particularly worthwhile at the end of July, when the last snowfields have disappeared and the alpine flora is in full bloom. A small picnic on the Augstenberg or at the hut with a view of the mountains makes the day perfect – and offers you the opportunity to consciously enjoy the peace and beauty of the alpine nature.

Since I had my eye on the panuler first and this fresh snow got on the hood today, I had to reschedule at short notice.

-> small Augstenberg round

The tour started when it was raining and ended when it was raining.

But it was still a wonderful hike.

Lonely paths, meditative silence, impressive mood.
