The route typically starts in Traunkirchen. While specific parking lots aren't detailed, you'll likely find public parking options within Traunkirchen itself, which serves as the main access point for this tour.
While dogs are generally welcome on many trails, this route passes through the Traunstein-Laudachsee Nature Reserve. It's advisable to check the specific regulations for the nature reserve regarding dogs, especially leash requirements, to ensure a smooth trip for you and your pet.
The best times to experience the stunning natural beauty of this route are during spring and autumn. During these seasons, the landscape is vibrant with colors, offering particularly picturesque views of the lakes and surrounding mountains.
Generally, there are no specific entrance fees for mountain biking on public trails within the Traunstein-Laudachsee Nature Reserve. However, it's always a good idea to check local regulations or official park websites for any updated information or specific permits that might be required for certain activities.
The terrain is varied, primarily consisting of asphalt and gravel roads. There might also be sections of singletrack. It's classified as a moderate mountain bike ride, suitable for riders with good fitness, with technical difficulty generally ranging from STS S0 to S1, potentially reaching S2 in more demanding parts.
This route offers magnificent scenery. You'll encounter picturesque alpine lakes like Vorderer Langbathsee, impressive mountain backdrops, and a Trail With View of Großalm Valley. You'll also get a View of Traunkirchen Abbey near the start/end point.

Notably, it covers 100% of the 3-Seen-Tour, 44% of the S800 BergeSeen 08, and 40% of the MTB: Von Steinbach nach Ebensee. You'll also find smaller portions overlapping with routes like the Salzkammergutweg (Oberösterreich) and the Traunsee-Laudachsee-Almtal-Offensee MTB.
This route is classified as moderate and requires good fitness. While basic riding skills are suitable for all levels, the distance of nearly 35 km and an elevation gain of around 620 meters mean it's best for riders who are comfortable with longer rides and some climbing, rather than absolute beginners.
The route is designed for a leisurely day trip, with benches along the way inviting short breaks. While specific cafes or pubs directly on the trail are not mentioned, the Langbath lakes area is a popular destination, and Traunkirchen itself offers various options for refreshments before or after your ride.
Given the moderate difficulty and varied terrain, wear appropriate mountain biking attire, including a helmet, padded shorts, and comfortable layers. Bring plenty of water, snacks, a basic repair kit, and navigation tools. Don't forget your camera to capture the stunning lake and mountain views!
On average, this mountain bike route takes about 2 hours and 42 minutes to complete. This duration can vary depending on your fitness level, the number of stops you make, and the pace you maintain.
This route was very nice to ride, with great views. It wasn't difficult. A lot of forest roads and gravel paths. Only at the beginning was it mostly on the asphalt bike path. Not bad.
Around both Langbathseen, via the Lueg, past the Großalm, via Neukirchen back to the Traunsee, and back to Ebensee
Beautiful, enjoyable e-mountain bike tour. From Traunkirchen to Ebensee, then on to the Langbathseen and from there over the Luegsattel and via Neukirchen back to Traunkirchen. If you want, you can turn off to the Hochsteinalm near Neukirchen, but unfortunately that wasn't possible for me due to the weather. A scenic, enjoyable tour.
