After the major service, the bike is running optimally again.

Circumnavigation of Lake Thun always close to the shore (as far as possible). Passage from Thun, Oberhofen, Interlaken (with a view of Jungfrau🏔️) and Spiez, among others. Beautiful round with a magnificent panorama on the way! For large parts of the route, the cycle path leads directly along the busy road, but is marked as a cycle path with separating strips.

Canton Bern Surreal colors, great weather. Unfortunately a lot of main street ... otherwise great 🙂

Thank you, Vogler Franz (Ibex Gallery, Unterseen), for the delicious espresso. You were right, it reminded me of Italy. I'm looking forward to my trip this summer. Such spontaneous encounters make traveling a real experience. 😎

https://youtu.be/0Z4yby0Mv9Y To finish off today, a tour around Lake Thun. We started at the TCS Camping Gwatt, just before Thurn. The first stop was Schadau Castle in Thurn. It has a beautiful castle park. The castle itself is a hotel. You have a beautiful view of the lake and the mountains. We continued on to Thurn, but we left it behind since we were already there. The surfers who were trying to surf the rather small waves of the Aare were interesting. First, we went along the banks of the Aare and the lake. Then we had to swerve onto the road. Not nice. We ended up taking the sidewalk because we could feel the body temperature of passing cars. Later, driving on the sidewalk was officially permitted. We then continued along the lake, with some bizarre rock formations. Then we reached the St. Beatus Caves (19 Swiss francs per person entrance fee or 15 Swiss francs with the Panorama Card). Beautifully situated on the mountain with a waterfall right outside. A pretty cave with plenty of water. Interestingly, you can visit the cave on your own without a guide, and dogs were allowed in (I wonder if they liked that?). After a beautiful descent, we went to the town of Unterseen (a lovely, quiet place), then to Interlaken (I don't think I need to go back there). A short detour to Lake Brienz, and then we headed back along the south side of Lake Thun. Here, you also cycle along busy roads, but at least there's a bike lane. Most of the route, however, is on quiet paths and roads along the lake and through small villages. There are also a few small climbs along the route, but none of them are a problem.

We circle Lake Thun clockwise and enjoy the day at the lake. The cycle route often runs next to or on the road. But we don't have any problems with drivers, as others probably do from time to time. Highlights: - View of the Niesen, Dreispitz and many other peaks - the romantic Oberhofen Castle - driving through tunnels high above the lake between Merligen and Sundlauenen - Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau - Weissenau nature reserve - the quiet towns of Därligen and Faulensee with beautiful old houses - Augand nature reserve "Switzerland cycle routes" https://www.komoot.com/de-de/collection/1306674/-schweiz-velorouten

November 15, 2024, Thunersee (- 500 hm)

Drove around Lake Thun in beautiful autumn weather. It was still fresh in the morning, especially before Interlaken. Temperature reading +0.0°C at a pharmacy. The route to Interlaken through the rocky ledge is beautiful. Took the train to Beatenberg and then enjoyed the descent. The panoramic bridge at Sigriswil is special, but at 8.- it's a bit expensive. I wouldn't do it again. The ferry service in Thun was unfortunately suspended and we had to take a detour, but enjoyed a snack in a pub. The lake promenade to Thun is beautiful, especially in this weather. Driving is prohibited and because there were a lot of people, I pushed my bike. It would almost be a shame to rush through it.
