Hiking
The Monbachtal is a nature and landscape conservation area and is one of the highlights in the Northern Black Forest and is worth a visit at any time of year.
The wild and romantic Monbach Gorge leads over narrow paths, fallen tree trunks, past lush green river meadows, sparkling streams, wild rock formations and a real waterfall. You cross the Monbach over moss-covered boulders. If you are not careful in some places or come after long days of rain, you run the risk of getting wet feet.
The hike through the gorge is a real nature experience. Here you will find vegetation that could well be called the "Swabian primeval forest".

If you have found the inconspicuous entry into the tour, the round is absolutely recommendable. The first half of the route is the more beautiful one, where you immerse yourself in seemingly untouched, almost primeval nature. The Monbach can be crossed again and again over large stones, which requires some surefootedness, but is varied and adventurous. The second half leads back to the starting point via a solid forest path.
If you walk the loop like we did, then the ascent is along the creek on a deer trail. Lots of opportunities to refresh yourself in the creek. But you should be very sure-footed for this part. Unfortunately, there is nothing at the turning point. The way back on a gravel path is more relaxing.
Started from a small forest parking lot across the street to the other side. On a small short path, this tour goes right to the Monbach. You can do all kinds of tours if you come to a wooden bridge after a short stretch. Here I was a bit undecided and decided to walk the tour in the opposite direction ... so at the wooden bridge right down the valley and again and again with crossings through the stream over stones. In any case, it is recommended to have good shoes with you. At the weekend there is a lot going on here, like a kind of mass migration 😀. Very impressive as seen in the pictures. There is a barbecue area with a hut and benches as well as many opportunities for the children to climb. About 50m above there is even a dixitoilette on a forest path. During the whole tour there are even some rescue points with letters and coordinates for emergency calls. Further down there is even a youth tent site with a hut and two barbecue areas. For the children but also for adults very eventful and you can really take a lot of time in and through the stream and for a barbecue.
On such a gloomy December day, the Monbachtal is just right ;-)
Beautiful tour and very impressive nature. We walked in mixed weather, it was deserted! Sturdy shoes are essential.
After a long time, I went for a short walk in the Monbach Valley again 💚 I found it very dark this time (...and therefore had some difficulty taking photos). It was another lovely, relaxing walk 🥰
