Early in the morning we took the bus to the nearby Koli National Park. A small winter wonderland with snow-covered trees and numerous views over the huge lake awaited us there. During our lunch break we were able to warm ourselves by a campfire before climbing Ukko-Koli, the highest peak. In the evening we took the bus back home.
Nice hike with great views of Lake Pielinen. It goes up and down several times, it took us 3 1/2 hours with a break, I don't believe the stated walking time of 2 hours, rather 2 1/2 hours or more pure walking time.
