Hiking
An exciting and varied hike across green alpine meadows, through rustic mountain forests, past a rock spring over the Eggenalmkogel with a panoramic view up to the Straubinger Haus - that's what the excellent premium hiking trail "Almgenuss" offers.
Behind the Hindenburghütte inn (accessible from Reit im Winkl with a paid shuttle bus), the trail starts uphill on the left. At the fork in the road at the "Sulzner Kaser" there is a large information point with an overview of the premium trails that start here. Continue left, following the signs to the Anna Chapel. From the chapel, it goes slightly downhill to the right to the Obere Hemmersuppenalm. At the fork in the road at a mineral spring fountain, the Almgenuss continues right towards the Straubinger Haus. Now it goes gently uphill along a meadow path towards the end of the valley - a population of marmots lives here, if you're lucky you can see them after a shrill whistle. The trail climbs, leads past a small waterfall, then over a footbridge. Finally, you will come to a crossroads with a signpost. At a rock face with a rock spring, turn left over a winding, steep path to the Schuhmacherkreuz.
Shortly afterwards, at the highest point of the tour, the Eggenalmkogel, you will get a fantastic view of Reit im Winkl, the Chiemsee and the nearby Kaiser Mountains from a bench. From the bench, follow the signpost to the right to the Straubinger Haus. Here you can enjoy the view of the Wilder Kaiser, whose massif rises majestically opposite the large, in-house sun terrace.
Directly next to the Straubinger Haus, the return path leads sharply to the right, past a chapel, back towards the Hindenburghütte. A gravel and stone path leads downhill, with a stream babbling to the right. Take the path towards Sulzner Kaser, Hindenburghütte. The stony path almost always leads straight downhill. At a crossroads, turn right towards the Hindenburghütte. At the next crossroads, continue straight on. On the left, the Sulzner Kaser Alm invites you to stop for a rest. A few meters later the path leads left, towards the Hindenburghütte, on the familiar route back to the starting point.
