On this 30 kilometer round tour you will discover the Spalter hill country. A train once ran on the route between Georgensgmünd to Spalt, also called Spalter Bockl. In the nineties, the railway line was converted into an attractive cycle path. A beautiful route with wonderful views - and the best start to your cycling pleasure.

The round starts at Georgensgmünder Bahnhof. The beautifully laid out bike path to Spalt is seven kilometers long. On the way you always enjoy great views of the idyllic Rezattal. Once in Spalt, it is worth taking a short break to take a tour of the historic old town.

You leave the gap and have a short, steep climb in front of you. Once you have done this, you can only roll it up to the shore of Lake Igelsbach. The picturesque lake is one of the two reservoirs for the Great Brombachsee. Treat yourself to a relaxing break on the shore and let your gaze wander over the calm water. There is also a beautiful bathing beach in Enderndorf.

With new energy, we continue on the northern bank path along the Great Brombachsee to the main block at Allmannsdorf. The cycle path on the bank of the reservoir is particularly beautiful. The lake, inaugurated in 2000, is the largest in the Franconian Lake District.

In Allmannsdorf you leave the bank and turn onto the Thalachtal-Brombachsee cycle path, which you follow to Röttenbach. Drive through the village for a short distance on the busy local road and then turn towards Niedermauk. On the bike path you cycle the last kilometers to your starting point.

Igelsbachsee

Highlight • Lake

The Igelsbachsee and the somewhat larger Kleine Brombachsee are the two reservoirs of the Großer Brombachsees. It is quiet and idyllic here, there is not as much going on here as at the Großer Brombachsee.

Today I have put together another tour with the theme of hops and this time I went to the hop harvest in the Spalt hop region with the Kalkhoff bike. The hop harvest begins at the end of August and lasts until about the end of September, so I was a bit late and unfortunately most of the fields had …
