Hiking
On the western city limits of Kamloops, Kenna Cartwright Nature Park’s Sunset Trail is worth a visit at any time of day. But as the name suggests, the hike to the viewpoint is particularly wonderful at sunset.
You’ll follow a beautiful path up through the shrubs and grasses that line the southern slope of Dufferin Hill. The viewing platform at the top is situated at only 100 metres (328 ft) , but the 360-degree panorama is impressive thanks to the lack of trees blocking the view. The idyllic Kamloops Lake lies directly below.
If you plan to do this hike at the end of the day, as recommended, don’t forget to take a torch with you so that you can find your way safely back. In the summer, you’ll need to take water, as there’s little shade on the route.
