Mühlbach Höhenweg

This section of the 94-kilometer-long Königsweg takes you from Mühlbach to Dienten. It is characterized by breathtaking nature with mountain streams, gorges, alpine pastures and panoramic views of the Dachstein and the Hohe Tauern.

You start at the Erichhütte car park and enjoy a fabulous natural landscape during the first climb. Your gaze wanders over the Hohe Tauern and then you reach the Erichhütte, the first of many places to stop along the tour. After a short rest, you continue on the Mühlbacher Höhenweg to the picturesque alpine pastures of the "Four Huts".

After a long lunch break, you hike slightly downhill into the Riedingtal, where rushing waterfalls plunge into the depths and the majestic Mandlwände rise in the background. Via the Windraucheggalm you reach the Arthurhaus and the Schweizerhütte, known for their cheese specialties.

Then the descent into the valley begins, where you will immerse yourself in the history of copper mining. Along the Mitterberger Erzweg No. 85, there are information boards about Mühlbach's mining history, tunnels from modern copper mining and old mining houses. You can return to the starting point by hiking bus, for example.
