Hiking
The gliding path sounds less dangerous than it is: on one of the most demanding ascents and descents in the Allgäu Alps, you will find many exposed sections secured with steel cables. But your courage will be rewarded, because the path through the Oytal to the idyllic Seealpsee is also one of the most beautiful tours. You can easily reach the starting point by public transport from the Nebelhornbahn bus stop.
To start the hike, climb gently uphill from Oberstdorf into the romantic Oytal. Here you will also come across the mountain inn of the same name - save it for a later break. After crossing the Oybach, the exciting part begins: the path goes steeply uphill in countless switchbacks and along sections secured with ropes.
You hike over exposed terrain and accompanied by chamois, marmots and maybe even a golden eagle to the mysteriously green shimmering Seealpsee. From here the terrain becomes exposed. For the unique view of the Höfats and the Oytal, you climb a little further. In addition to the wonderful view, you can also reward yourself with a well-deserved rest at the Edmund Probst Haus. If you want, you can end the tour here and take a leisurely ride down into the valley on the Nebelhornbahn.
Otherwise, you can head back down the valley on the ascent route, freshly rested. But the steep descent in particular is challenging and should be mastered with great concentration right up to the end. Once you have reached the valley floor, you can look forward to a gentle meadow path that leads you through the wild and romantic Oytal and to the mountain inn of the same name.
After a hearty meal, you can hike or rent a scooter back to the starting point in Oberstdorf.
Tip: Before your tour, it is best to find out about the network of trails and the current mountain weather in the mountain sports report from Tourismus Oberstdorf: https://www.oberstdorf.de/alpininfo/bergsportbericht.

So I quickly made my way from the Edmund Probst Haus in the direction of the Seealpsee (the classic in the Nebelhorn area)... Lots of people on the way who of course also wanted to take a look at this emerald-green lake. I crossed 2 harmless fields of snow and was soon on my own. …

There are some small climbing passages, some of which are marked with wire ropes.
It's also worth looking back, the view of the Oytal and the Höfats is breathtaking.

The tour is also very nice when it rains, the landscape then looks very mystical.

we went up with the Nebelhornbahn today 🚆. Our tour started at the Höfats mountain station. Originally we wanted to go to the Gaisalpseen - but since we were a little late in time, we spontaneously rescheduled 🤷♂️ and first descended to the Seealpsee. From there we went down the Oytal-Gleitweg into the Oytal to the mountain inn …

Overall, the weather was a dream, couldn't have been better.

We chose this route because we wanted to climb the Nebelhorn... but we just wanted to. The path along the beautiful Oybach ends at the junction with the Dr. Hohenadl path and is diverted onto Oytalstrasse. The detour makes the route to the Oytalhaus mountain inn 3 km longer. From Oytalstrasse onwards
