August 29, 2023, Altaussee Runde bei Regen

Well used today's rainy day with a nice walk through Bad Aussee and then a hike around Lake Altaussee. Unfortunately, we had to stop twice to protect ourselves from the weather, one time there was an extremely delicious wine and the other time one of the best Kaiserschmarrn I've ever eaten. We were rewarded with great views of the rugged rock faces of the Trisselwand and the Loser. Even with the fog it had an insane mood all in all a successful day for this weather with very nice company

Nice short hike along the lake. Attention for dog owners, dogs must be kept on a leash and the paths are very narrow at the end. There are a few places that invite you to rest 😊 as well as various restaurants along the way

As part of a short holiday in the Salzkammergut in Austria, my wife and I are visiting the idyllic Lake Altaussee. The picturesque mountain lake, with its largely undeveloped shores and adjacent wetlands, offers habitats for many animal and plant species and has been a nature reserve since 1959. The water is crystal clear and has a slightly dark blue color. A gravelled panoramic path leads around the lake. The many views of the Dachstein, Loser, Trisselwand and other mountains are impressive. We start the circular route in the small town of Altaussee with its parish church dedicated to St. Ägidius. We walk along a narrow path on the sunny northern shore below steep rock faces to the Seewiese. Here is the wonderfully restored "Seewiese" snack bar, where we enjoy delicious Ausseer char and traditional Kaiserschmarrn. After this refreshment, it goes back on the wooded southern bank. Here we use one of the numerous bathing spots for a quick dip in the pleasantly warm water (the lake gets very deep at the shore, so that you definitely have to swim). Conclusion: You can safely circumnavigate Lake Altaussee in less than two hours. It took us around six hours today and we enjoyed every minute of it - a beautiful circular route that we will always remember fondly...

Holiday in the mountains. If you live in the gently rolling hills of Wetterau and Rhön, visits to the sea or the mountains offer very special impressions. Today there was a trip around the lake near Altaussee in Styria. The approximately 8km long circular route has practically no incline; halfway there you can fortify yourself with something savoury or sweet at the Jagdhaus Seewiese. The sunny and calm weather offered a mirror-smooth lake, so there were numerous stops along the route to enjoy and take photos.
