A sea of yellow blossoms: Our hike on the Daffodil Trail near Monschau-Höfen Dear hiking friends, Today we'd like to tell you about a very special trip: Ursel and I set out to experience the famous daffodil bloom near Monschau-Höfen on the edge of the Eifel National Park. And what can we say? It was simply breathtaking! A natural spectacle of the highest order The daffodil bloom is a unique natural spectacle that attracts numerous visitors to the Eifel region every spring. Millions of wild daffodils transform the meadows along the Perlenbach and Fuhrtsbach valleys into a bright yellow sea of blossoms. The sight is simply overwhelming and a feast for the senses. Hiking in the Eifel National Park Our hike took us through the beautiful Eifel National Park, which, with its pristine nature and rolling hills, is a paradise for hikers. The park covers an area of approximately 110 square kilometers and is home to a variety of rare plant and animal species. Perfect Hiking Weather We were lucky and caught a sunny day with pleasant temperatures. This allowed us to fully enjoy the hike and absorb the beauty of nature. The daffodils glowed in the sun, and the scent of the blossoms filled the air. Information about the Eifel National Park • The Eifel National Park was founded in 2004 and is the only national park in North Rhine-Westphalia. • It is known for its diverse flora and fauna, including wildcats, black storks, and numerous bat species. • The park offers a well-developed network of hiking trails leading to the most beautiful viewpoints and natural highlights. • At the Höfen National Park Gate, you can learn about the daffodil blooms and the national park in the exhibition "Daffodil Rush and Forest Change." From our hotel in Roetgen we drove to the start/finish of today's hike in Höfen. The Perlenbach and blooming daffodils accompanied us throughout the entire tour. It was a very beautiful and recommendable route with only moderate inclines, occasionally very muddy due to the heavy rain recently, but easy to walk with hiking boots. This evening we'll treat ourselves to a delicious meal in the hotel and tomorrow after breakfast we'll head to the High Fens.

In celebration of Forest Day, we headed to the Eifel region near Monschau on the warmest day of the year. Unfortunately, the daffodils were only a few scattered here and there, but everything was green. In three weeks, we'll repeat the route in the opposite direction. The meadows will surely be in full bloom.

When the days get warmer and most plants make their way to the surface, it's time for a spring hike. The Daffodils Trail in the Eifel is ideal for this: Germany's largest population of wild daffodils awaits you in the Perlenbach-Fuhrtsbachtal nature reserve, near the Belgian border. Especially daffodils, the yellow daffodils, attract with their bright flowers and form a beautiful, radiant sea of flowers. From the end of March to the beginning of May you are lucky enough to be able to admire millions of them.

With perfect weather, it was very crowded on a Sunday 🌼🌼🌼 Afterwards, we headed to the "old dairy" for coffee and cake 😋
