Peaks, lakes and mountain huts: On this scenic circular hike you climb the 2,396 meter high Zirbitzkogel and pass other wonderful highlights. It starts directly at the Sabathyhütte (Alpengasthof Sabathy). From there you hike quite relaxed in the forest to the Linderhütte and then on to the Rothaidenhütte.
In open, steep terrain you climb up to the Zirbitzkogel with a view of Obdach. Just below the summit you are greeted by the famous Zirbitzkogelhaus, which is exposed on a rocky terrace.
The narrow Schreibersteig leads you from the Zirbitzkogel down, sometimes steeply, to the enchanting Winterleiten lakes. If you need refreshment, the Winterleitenhütte is ready with its delicious dishes. Back in the forest you then walk to the Schmelzhütte and then back to the starting point.
