This challenging dream trail offers you not only breathtaking natural experiences, but also an exciting blend of thrills and idyllic tranquility. The circular trail begins and ends in Hatzenport. If you follow the narrow path, which leads steadily uphill, you will be rewarded with impressive views from the striking Rabenlay hill.
The trail leads over the gently rolling hills of the Schromberger Thalsberg into the tranquil Schrumpftal valley and along the Schrumpfbach stream. You then climb up to the heights of the Maifeld. From here, you return to the edge of the slope, where a spectacular view of the Moselle opens up.
For sure-footed hikers, the trail offers a special finale: the spectacular Dolling climbing trail. After this exciting section, the dream trail returns to Hatzenport.
A tour organized by the Rhine-Moselle-Eifel Tourist Board.

Another dream path was on the program today in hot temperatures and I have to say it was worth it 👍 narrow and sometimes steep paths, great views of the Moselle valley from the Raben- and Kreuzlay as well as again and again in between. It was nice in the quaint shrink creek valley and on the Moselpanoranaweg 😉 even if the ☀️ partly went through the open landscape and it was quite warm a 🔝 tour.
Very beautiful circular hiking trail, initially on narrow paths northwards through the vineyards, then across fields into the cool Schrumpftal. On the other side of the valley it climbs up again to the fields of the Maifeld, before you first go through the forest and then through vineyards back to Hatzenport. Great views of the Moselle valley and the expanse of the Maifeld, as well as the coolness of the oak forest in the Schrumpftal make this dream trail.
A very nice circular route. Strenuous, but varied due to the always beautiful views. The climbing passages require sure-footedness and the long ascent through the forest doesn't seem to want to end. Definitely worth it! And at the end please also take the via ferrata with you.
https://www.traumpfade.info/pfad/traumpfad/hatzenporter-laysteig/ (GPX file included in the "interactive tour planner") Own rating: 7 / 7⭐ Start / finish: P+R at the train station in Hatzenport (free) Tour highlights: on the steep slope through the vineyards, via ferrata, mystical forest, wide views and unspoilt paths Briefly summarized: - Walked several km completely alone at times - Very idyllic route and very quiet in parts (road traffic can be heard in the first 3.5 and last 2.5 km), many dirt roads, some forest, narrow paths on the steep slope, adventurous climbing sections at the beginning and end as well as beautiful far-reaching views - Lots of seating, now rarer - Type of path: field paths, paved forest paths, a bit of gravel, a few meters of asphalt path/road, stony paths, rocks (on which you have to walk) The adventurous tour was really fun 😎 BUT: at another time of year I would only have given it 5⭐, because fields can be quite dreary if nothing grows and blooms there (and here there are many field paths incl.). That in combination with the street noise 🙉🤷🏼♀️
Very nice tour on the Moselle. Especially when it's sunny, you immediately feel like you're on vacation. The way "back" over the fields is ok. But the highlights are at the beginning and at the end. I like Dolling climbing path a lot, but it's not really long.

🥉 3rd place in the day trips category "Germany's Most Beautiful Hiking Trail 2018" Dream trail Hatzenporter Laysteig (Rhineland-Palatinate) On primeval paths, the route leads along the steep slope of the Moselle directly through the vineyards. Via ferratas provide thrills, the striking Rabenlay and Kreuzlay for magnificent views before the path plunges into the enchanted and quiet Schrumpftal. www.traumpfade.info/pfad/traumpfad/hatzenporter-laysteig www.traumpfade.info
Well, is this a dream path? Half of it is nice, the other half consists of dirt roads between agricultural areas. Terribly boring...the end makes up for it a little.
