Palavas-les-Flots is located a few pedal strokes from Montpellier. So, what's better than cycling?
The old railway line from Palavas to Montpellier runs along the Lez and the lagoons far from traffic. You start this route facing the Mediterranean Lighthouse which stands in front of you, just when the Lez flows into the sea. A few moments later, you pedal between two waters, on a track which separates the Méjean pond and the Arnel pond.
About four kilometers away, visit the protected natural site of Méjean. A small detour leads to the Maison de la Nature. It houses an exhibition and is the starting point for several marked hiking trails. The site reveals a mosaic of landscapes and rich biodiversity.
Arriving in Montpellier, the last few kilometers offer superb views of buildings with impressive architecture, such as the Hôtel de Ville. You end up on the Place de la Comédie where you will be greeted by the Montpellier Tourist Office.
