You can experience a lot in a short time on the only 9 km long tour through the legendary Schächerbachtal. Magnificent views alternate with varied forest areas. We did the hike with 4 adults and 4 children. The start and end of the hike is the Stadhallenplatz in Homberg, just a five-minute walk from the medieval, historic town center. Even before the start of the charming hike, you can enjoy a wonderful view of the Ohmtal with the Amöneburg from here. The hike takes you along narrow paths through a sparse beech forest, past a covered rest area and over hedge-lined meadow paths. The highlights for our children were crossing the Schächerbach on natural stepping stones and an ancient stone bridge made of mighty quartzite blocks. The children could let off steam in the great forest children's playground before we returned to the Hainmühle when it started to rain. We used the rainy season for a good lunch.
First brought the car to the inspection, then used the time window to hike. Due to the heavy rain in the last few weeks, some of the paths were very muddy. Unfortunately, we couldn't cross the stepping stones on the Ohm today either, we had to walk around a few fallen trees. But still recommended at any time of the year.
Great tour with friends. Very nice streams for children.
A really nice tour, with little adventures (stream crossing) and varied paths across fields and through the forest. It was fun, especially because of the nice company I had😘
And once again the good old Schächerbach tour... A short stop at the Thaut wine press is a must if you want to take a delicious juice with you on the way. In the meantime, in addition to in-house juices and apple wine, other drinks and ice cream are also offered. In the forest behind the Pletschmühle, the Turk's cap lilies are blooming, the heraldic flower of the Voglesberg district. There are currently a few changes on or at the track: The approx. 150m long section of path between the scout campground and the playground of the hiking club Homberg/Ohm is currently closed, a detour is signposted. In addition, the path along the Herrnteich is currently closed due to the bank being washed away. However, the signposted diversion leads back to the main route directly behind the Herrnteich. The Black Sea is currently dry, the water has been pumped out. At the deserted village "Ellersdorf" there is the possibility, instead of walking over the old stone footbridge, to dare a little natural Kneipp experience... It's worth taking off your shoes here and taking the path through the Schächerbach to get to the other side come. That's wonderfully refreshing! Shortly before the Hainmühle, almost at the end of the tour, you cross the Ohm on large stones without getting your feet wet - exactly at the point where the water level was so high in February that the Ohm was only a few hundred meters away lying car bridge could cross. After the Schächerbach tour we were still full of energy, and since it was supposed to stay light for a long time, we then made our way to the nearby Hardtschlucht https://www.komoot.de/tour/1168133353, which was really worth it.
The last kilometer doesn't count - I forgot to end the tour. 🙈
Very varied hike, which is excellently signposted.
