A quick ride before heading back home! It was nice! ☺️
The start was the parking lot at the Taufsteinhütte restaurant. A pleasant circular route around the Hoherodskopf with lots of seating and great panoramic views. We treated ourselves to a detour on the treetop path (€ 8.50 entry) and a break in the "mountain hut".
The Hoherodskopf in the Vogelsberg is fully developed for tourism. There is a large car park for the climbing park, summer toboggan run, restaurants and hikers. From there, the easy circular trail leads through forest, moor and heathland. To the southwest, a fantastic view is a highlight.
Hello Komootlers, I wish you all a wonderful long weekend. Today I braved my lingering cold and hiked the Höhenrundweg (high-altitude circular trail) in the Vogelsberg Mountains. A lovely, relaxing hike for me and my wife. 🚺 Greetings 👍🙋♂️🙋♀️🥾🌞
After a restful night in the slumber barrel and a delicious breakfast at the Taufsteinhütte, we took a lovely walk along the Höhenrundweg (High Circular Trail) before heading home. Highlights: * High Moor * Niddaquelle * Geiselstein * Taufstein with Bismarck Tower (the tower is currently closed) * Hoherodskopf with a beautiful view 🥾https://www.vogelsberg-touristik.de/detail/id=6596af18af38ae88b43f0648 🛖 https://www.taufsteinhuette.de/
Since the snow🌨❄️ and most of the crowds👬👨👩👧👦🏂⛷️🧍🏼♂️🧍🏼♀️🛷 attracted by the onset of winter☃️ have disappeared again, we have each other again today on Europe's largest volcano🌋 embarked. The starting point of our walk was the parking lot 🅿️ Heide. We ran 9️⃣8️⃣% of the Höhenrundweg anti-clockwise🔄 Hoherodskopf, we skipped the Geiselstein🪨. The weather was very pleasant with a good 7️⃣°C and plenty of sun 🌞, only in the shady forest passages 🌲🌳 it was a little fresher and there was still a little snow or ice here and there. The vision👀 was once again impressive👍🏻, but unfortunately it only comes across to a limited extent in the photos.
Of course it is wonderful to go for a walk around the Hoher Vogelsberg with frost, sunshine and a deep blue sky. But to go for a walk in the fog and light snowfall is something very special. Not only do you have Hoherodskopf and Taufstein almost to yourself and hardly a car is to be seen up here, it is the incredible silence in the forest that is so fascinating. Birds don't sing in winter anyway (only the occasional jay screeches), but all life on the forest floor has also come to a complete standstill. If you do hear something in the undergrowth, you can be sure that it is a larger animal, probably roe deer, fallow deer or wild boar, which are relatively easy to distinguish by their different gaits. No chance of experiencing something like that in good weather when the paths are packed with people, bikes, sledges, dogs...It was just damn cold up there, especially in the open areas where the wind blew surprisingly strongly.
In the wonderful autumn sunshine, the family was introduced to the beauties of the Vogelsberg in the surroundings of the Hoherodskopf with a short hike.
