The area between Dreba and Plothen is also known as the land of 1,000 ponds. The waters were created by Benedictine monks 900 years ago. At times there were actually over 1,000 ponds, and some have since been merged. In this picturesque landscape, you can hike a large loop in the shape of a figure eight with your family. If you don't want the tour to be quite so long, the northern and southern loops can also be walked separately.
The starting point is at the nature conservation information point. On the way, an enchanted natural area awaits you, where rare animal and plant species feel at home. The water birds can be admired particularly well from two observation towers. You can learn more about the area and its inhabitants at the play and information stations along the way. There is also an exhibition worth seeing in the Hausteichhaus, which stands on 90 piles in the water.
