Hiking
The hike that leads to the Iparla peak from the village of Bidarray guarantees its share of spectacular landscapes. The route, which includes a significant kilometer-altitude difference ratio, is carried out back and forth on the GR 10 route. Its markings facilitate your progress while ensuring comfortable progress.
From the center of Bidarray and its Basque pelota pediment, you start by taking a small road which goes up towards the famous Iparla ridges. The route goes around a farm before taking a small path that climbs under the forest.
Little by little, the ground becomes clearer. The first part of the climb is the one which includes the steepest portions. You gradually follow the ridge line while quickly gaining height. The slope gradually softens and you discover the first classified peaks such as Pagalepoa, Talatze and Larrateko Egia.
You are now flirting with the Franco-Spanish border while the ridges reveal increasingly spectacular viewpoints. The path evolves not far from dizzying cliffs which offer breathtaking panoramas. The Iparla peak brings this spectacle to life, just above 1,000 meters above sea level. Enjoy the views of the Pyrenees before descending the same way.
