The hike started at the parking lot above the village of Saut du Doubs. From the car park it was a steep downhill walk to the said river Doubs & the little town that had piers for the ferries that take direct water access to Villers Le Lac. A few minutes away from Saut du Doub we reached the first big highlight of the tour: a gigantic waterfall with a drop of about 27 meters. We then followed the river Doubs downstream & passed many different spectacular places time and time again. Be it a small cave or imposing rock faces. Arrived at the gigantic dam wall, it went steeply downhill again to an exciting river crossing. We left France behind and went to Switzerland. From now on we followed the river Doubs upstream again in steady ups and downs to the starting point. I highly recommend the tour - a beautiful & spectacular place to stay!
Today a visit to the Neuchâtel Jura on the Doubs with a tour of the Lac de Moron reservoir. For today's tour it had to be Sunday morning. And so early that the roads are still empty for the outward journey and I've almost finished my lap when the crowds arrive. The plan worked 👍🏻. After 80 minutes of driving on almost empty roads, I reached the very large free parking lot in Les Brenets, just after Le Locle. Time on site 08:00 a.m., cars in the parking lot ça 10 😊 (total spaces for more than 150 vehicles!). At the beginning of the hike to the border crossing to France, my choice of route could have been optimized, the chosen hiking trail had quite a bit of asphalt 😕. The border is then crossed over a small pedestrian metal bridge, here there are some restaurants on both the French and Swiss sides. The left bank of the river and lake in France has mostly wide forest paths up to the dam wall, which are also popular with mountain bikers because of their width and relatively straight terrain. From this path, a small detour takes you to the 27m high Doubs waterfall (Le saut du Doubs), which shortly afterwards becomes a reservoir. From the dam wall, the hiking trail was more my thing. Small path with stones, roots and rough terrain. First we went down to the river where you have to pass the Doubs on a crazy crossing - on round serving trays, and one of them is loose and turning 😅😉. Then we went back up from 660m to 830m. Almost at the top of the exit from the forest, the grass was uncut and it hung waist-deep into the trail, obscuring the narrow path. It also had stinging nettles, and not too little 🤬 – @Alessandro says hello 🫣😅. At the top, the hiking trail leads again for about 2km on a road, first asphalt then gravel. After that, the path meanders along the rocks again and from time to time there is a nice view over the lake again. Nice tour with few people if you are early 🤗 By the way, I took over most of the tour from @WanderSander a few days ago. Thanks.
