Today we visit the Chillon moated castle directly on Lake Geneva. Our tour started in the small, tranquil tourist town of Montreux. Our path led directly along the lake straight to the castle. The castle itself is a feast for the eyes. Built on a rock in the water, 600 year old wooden ceilings, and with entrance fees of 13.50 ChF worth a visit. At one point I had to briefly think about @OnnoRingering and @SaBiene🐝. Maybe you'll find out when 😊🤭
Leisurely stroll from Chillon Castle to Montreux for lunch. On the way, many stops at the funny sculptures of the cartoon character "le chat". Le chat was a daily comic strip by Philippe Geluck for the Belgian newspaper "le soir" for 30 years (1983 - 2013). The traveling exhibition "Le Chat déambule", which was shown for the first time in Paris on the Champs-Elysées in spring 2021, is currently stopping at the Quai of Montreux. Passers-by have the opportunity to admire 20 bronze cat sculptures by the Belgian artist Philippe Geluck. The waterfront promenade has been enriched with spring flowers. The other sculptures add variety to the walk to Chillon Castle. The walk started at the Château de Chillon. There are enough free parking spaces available. The 3-kilometer tour goes directly along Lake Geneva and there are many works of art on display along the way. In addition, you walk past expensive and chic hotels and tennis courts where you can watch one or the other game. Right in town on the boardwalk is a Freddy Mercury statue. Back we first went through the city and then back to the great promenade.
...about the Eglise de Montreux and the Château de Chillon. I had seen the 🏰 a few times while driving past and today I was at least able to look from the outside. Always beautiful on Lake Geneva, even if it was a bit overcast today. The Queen Studio of Experience is also worth a visit if you are already in Queen Town, B1 and B2 are from the previous evening.
Finally, the 🌞 singed again so that the rooms didn't cool down. 😉
