An exciting circular hike through the Barranco de Guarimiar. Starting and ending in Alajero. Great views and some adventurous paths, but quite manageable. Sure footing is definitely recommended 😉.
One of the top hikes from the Rother hiking guide was on the agenda today. We wanted to escape the clouds and rain in northern La Gomera, so we headed south. Unfortunately, the weather forecast wasn't very reliable, and instead of a mix of sun and clouds, we had clouds and intermittent drizzle. This didn't make the hike any easier, as the stones on the path were very slippery. Luckily, we had our hiking poles with us, which helped somewhat. The hike itself is truly unique; it leads from Imada into the Guarimiar Gorge, descending about 600 meters and partly along narrow paths clinging to the rock face. We took a break in the village of Guarimiar before continuing towards Targa. According to the guidebook, the highlight of the hike is the ascent to Targa, which is comparable to the Dolomites. It was truly breathtaking – almost 400 meters of steep climbing over a good 1.6 kilometers. From Targa, the hike continued relatively easily uphill via Alajero back to the car. A scenic hike that would surely be even more enjoyable in sunshine...
Spectacular circular hike through the Guarimiar Gorge. Refreshment stop: "El Mesón de Clemente"
.... So we started the tour in Targa because I don't like going uphill on busy roads at the end, so we walked from Targa via Alojera to Imada. Then the Barranco downhill. 👹👹 !!!! Attention currently (04.11.2021) I have to point out that about 800 meters before Targa on the last steep climb the Camino broke away about 3 meters long. !!!!! 👹👹 !! mark it on the map !! You now have to climb over a ledge that is exposed to the abyss. Not without danger because it goes down about 150 meters vertically. I was already wondering why loose flutter tape was flying around in the landscape on the ascent. Below is not clearly marked that the path is actually impassable. No sign, no warning notices We dared anyway, because otherwise we would have had to go up the Barranco all the way up about 5Km again !! Shit .....
Great tour with an extremely beautiful view. About halfway there is an extremely tough climb that somehow never ends and is a bit reminiscent of the climb to Mordor...
Spectacular ascent and descent. In between a road trip through sleepy villages
Even if the images all look the same, in Live it is just fantastically beautiful. The contrast to the last tours, no real shadow, just rock all around. It was correspondingly warm, at least 5⁰ too warm🥵. Unfortunately, komoot activated itself again and recorded some car travel, which was a little over 10km.
