Hiking
This beautiful loop explores the forests of the Aiguillettes mountain as well as the vineyards surrounding Vauxrenard. This hike is ideal in summer because a large part of its route allows you to walk in the shade of the fir trees.
The loop begins in Vauxrenard, this village draws its history from the Middle Ages. I invite you to go and discover its 11th century Romanesque church. You start this hike on a small asphalt road. It rises above the village and allows you to enjoy the view of the valley.
A long section in the forest follows up to the Croix de Vernebois then you reach the Col de Fontmartin via a wide track. This place marks your return towards the south.
You follow the Aiguillettes mountain via the superb Chemin des Dames. In my opinion, this is the most beautiful part of the route and if you are planning a picnic I recommend that you stop around the seventh kilometer. More open parts reveal the landscapes of the Beaujolais mountains, it is the ideal place for a break.
The end of the route takes a short stretch of the Montgoury road, lost among the pines before making a final loop in the Lienne woods to reach Vauxrenard.
