This route immerses you in the heart of watchmaking country. This draws its history from the watchmaking tradition which has particularly developed in the Swiss Jura, particularly in the region of La Chaux-de-Fonds and Le Locle, which are included on the UNESCO world heritage list in because of their urban planning linked to this industry.
Departing from La Maîche, the route explores the Franche-Comté forests. You follow old smuggling routes on this mid-mountain plateau which adjoins the border.
After the Combe Saint-Pierre station, you take beautiful forest tracks and pass on the southern slope of the Peu summit. From the Crampoulotte belvedere the view is magnificent.
At kilometer 20, crossing Damprichard allows you to resupply. At the exit of the village you pass near the Bisons du Sacheuros and with a little luck you will be able to see them at the edge of the path. Their imposing silhouettes impress.
In Trévilliers, take the time to take a little detour to the village cheese factories to taste local products. The rest of the route leads to the Bois du Roy ponds which offer a unique place for a stop by the water.
The end of the route crosses fir forests and joins the slopes of Mont Miroir before going back down to La Maîche.
