August 1, 2025, Una delle più belle escursioni mai fatte: Monte Legnone dal rifugio Roccoli Lorla

As stated in the event description, to which I refer those who want to read the details, it was one of the most beautiful hikes I've ever done. One that leaves you with the joy of the effort and the gratitude of fully enjoying nature.

Panoramic excursion on Mount Legnone, which divides Valsassina from Valtellina. Medium-length climb with a difference in altitude of 1200 m starting from the Roccoli Loria Refuge. From the bivouac the path to the summit is equipped with chains in the fastest passages. At the summit, a breathtaking 360° view from the Rosa massif to the Ortles-Cevedale group, with the peaks of Valmalenco and Val di Mello clearly visible in the center. Finally, a view of the home Orobie with the unmistakable Diavolino and Diavolo, and behind them Redorta and Scais.

The highest peak in the Lecco area in Valvarrone, Monte Legnone! Beautiful route, not at all difficult except for the last few km, where you have to pay a little attention to the technical ground equipped in the right places with chains, but absolutely doable. Water is always a mirage, so I recommend thinking carefully especially if you go there in these periods. The view from Roccoli Lorla for the entire journey to the summit is a real "repayment" for the effort! For me, who loves more technical and challenging trails, I have to say that a good part of the climb did not excite me particularly, but as already said, everything is rewarded by the panorama of the peaks and the lake all around! Oh to be precise, the travel time recorded by komoot is exactly double in reality, seven hours and a half!

The highest mountain in the Lecco area. From the start at Ca 'de Legn you don't gain much altitude then the real fun begins!

Very nice, strenuous (mandatory) tour to the highest mountain (2609m) on Lake Como.

Beautiful and very challenging route even if for the first 3 km or so it climbs gently. There is no water on the route so I recommend bringing enough water considering that you are exposed to the sun. Route suitable for dogs up to "Ca de legn" then I advise against taking the dog further even if there are people who do. You will encounter points with chains that serve as an aid to the climb.

Parking at the Roccoli refuge costs €5 for the whole day. The climb is steep but technically straightforward. Only a few sections are equipped with fixed ropes. The trail description recommends expert hikers with a mountaineering level of F, as some sections require the use of hands.

Departure from the Roccoli Lorla location, after having bought the parking ticket (5€), before setting off, a short stop for a coffee at the refuge and then off towards Legnone. First stop Casera Meric de Scim after about 1km then you reach the Alpe di Agrogno basso at 2km and the Alpe di Agrogno alto at 3.5km, up to this point the route is simple while from here on it starts to get more challenging. Continuing along the path you reach the Ca de Legn or bivouac Silvestri, I recommend recharging your batteries because from here on it becomes very challenging to get to the top, in addition to the slope of the path there are also parts equipped with chains and iron ladders that help, it is just over 1km but must be approached with caution. Once you reach the top you have a 360° view, you can see a nice piece of Valtellina, a nice piece of Val Chiavenna, a large part of Lake Como, a crazy part of Lake Lugano, Grigna, Pizzo Tre Signori, in short it is really worth it. We returned following the path we took to go up and upon arrival we stopped at the refuge for a coffee, a piece of cake and a blueberry grappa. There is no water along the way so bring enough. I do not recommend bringing your four-legged friend, he would have too much trouble going down because of the slope. I also recommend stopping at the Roccoli Lorla refuge where they make excellent cakes and are very kind.
