This route was planned by komoot.
Gotthard Nufen Furkapass unfortunately far too many motorcycles on the way.
Wonderful weather, great ambiance as thousands took part cycling the passes from Andermatt
Slept badly, chaotic train journey (instead of 3:48 and one change, 4:48 and 3 changes), but from Göschenen onwards everything was great!
Cold and foggy in Ulrichen Cold and sunny at Nufenenpass with snow on the ground Warm in Airolo and on the Gothard Started Furka in the sun, finished in the fog Sun again in the descent with a freezing wind A good day on the bike...
Yesterday's three-pass tour was already exceptionally beautiful🤩, but today it was topped again. The Furka Pass, especially the descent down to Oberwald, is a dream, offering great asphalt, breathtaking switchbacks, hotel and railway romance, and an overwhelmingly beautiful landscape, including a view of the Susten.🥰🥰🥰 Plus the magnificent finale over the Tremola up to the Gotthard Pass, a true cobblestone monument built around 200 years ago!!! And all of this in conjunction with a super SSG team🥳🥳🥳, a dream day on the bike🥰🤩, even though yesterday's tour was still pretty much in my bones.😜 And now a few side notes: - Sean Connery was already active on the Furka Pass in the 1960s. Goldfinger was filmed here, and at the touch of a button at the viewpoint, Shirley Bassey's voice can be heard. - Porsche drivers, in particular, imagine themselves in one of 007's car chases. They zip through the curves without regard for the consequences (cyclists). - In Belvedere, the next argument looms over what will be immortalized next in the selfie in front of the hotel – luxury car or bike. - The Nufenen doesn't quite reach the flair of Furka and Tremola. Instead, it offers the steepest average gradient at 9%. Lucky for those who take it a bit easier down in Ullrichen.
Basically a tradition for me. But be sure to ride it once yourself as well. If you need company, gimme a shout.
... what seems big and important to us suddenly becomes void and small ...
A very recommendable pass round, on which there was pretty much everything from sun to thunderstorms! Oh yes, if you want to go on holiday by car, it might be advisable to avoid the Gotthard, but look at the huge traffic jam for yourself;) On the one hand, it's nice to be able to just scurry past it on a bike, but of course the fear of doors suddenly being thrown open is also a part of it. So if you get stuck in such a traffic jam, always pay attention to the cyclists, thank you <3
