Road cycling

This Tour allows you to ride on the roads of cycling champions. In fact, by taking this Tour you can get to know the roads of the Granfondo Tre Valli Varesine, an amateur competition that follows the prestigious professional race.
The departure and arrival of this Tour, in fact, honor the historic arrival of the famous Tre Valli Varesine.

I advise you to train properly before embarking on this route: the mileage and altitude are demanding. Thanks to this Tour you can get to know the province of Varese in depth. Starting from Varese you go towards Valganna. After 12 kilometers you face the first climb of the day: Alpe Tedesco. This climb, very pleasant thanks to the fact that it is very shady, is not easy in terms of altitude as its five kilometers reach an average gradient of 7.5%.

A winding road takes you to the shores of Lake Lugano. A few kilometers of flat terrain lets you rest before tackling the panoramic stretch of Artena. This way you enter the second valley, Valtravaglia. Various climbs, followed by a beautiful descent, take you to Lake Maggiore, in the Germignaga area.

After a few kilometers along the lake, return to the hinterland where you face the Roggiano climb which, with its 1,500 meters at 10%, is not trivial. The descent takes you into the third valley, Valcuvia which you leave to follow the provincial road that takes you first to Brinzio and then to the Campo dei Fiori Park, and finally to Gemonio.

The short climbs continue to be the protagonists until Gavirate, when you arrive at the third lake of the day, that of Varese. Cycle along the lakeside to Schiranna. The final climb begins in this location and takes you back to Varese.

The road that connects Brezzo to Mesenzana passes through Roggiano and is with little traffic and very shaded. It is therefore very pleasant to tackle during a cycling tour, even in summer.

Today I attacked the number on my back, a very nice route with many ups and downs and with very technical sections, asphalt in good condition. Excellent organization, for the entire race the track was closed to traffic. Finally, I'm happy with my performance.

I expected it to be more similar to the GF Gimondi, but instead it surprised me with a continuous series of ups and downs and continuous deviations in the woods. The wet surface didn't help but at least it was nice and cool. I'll note it here: in the first section there are a couple of poorly lit tunnels so …

Not the right GF for me. But I still brought home an average of 29kmh ✌🏻
