Pendennis Point

Highlight • Castle

Pendennis point provides beautiful views of the coast and is only a very short distance from busy Falmouth.

The name comes the Cornish Pen (Headland) and Dynas (Castle).

Dolphins and Basking Sharks have been spotted here along with more frequent visits from seals.

Pendennis Castle began life in the 16th Century as a gun fort and has guarded the entrance to Carrick Roads (Falmouth Estuary) since. It is looked after by English Heritage and open to visitors.

Robin Knox-Johnston Bronze Footprints

Highlight • Historical Site

Robin Knox-Johnston became the first person to sail non-stop solo around the world. In a time without all the technology we have now, this is a truly impressive feat. The brass footprints of Sir Robin Knox-Johnston here commemorate the place where he left in 1986 and arrived back 312 days after! The footprints were to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the date he arrived back into Falmouth.
