Rosy Mound Natural Area Trail

Highlight (Segment) • Trail

The forest is very light and the tall trees are narrow, but thanks to the light crowns, a lot of light falls down.
The tree trunks are reddish.

Dune View

Highlight • Viewpoint

After the path through the forest you can see the dunes in front of you. Take a deep breath, look, move on and then you're on the beach - or in the pine trees.

The lake is so big you can't see the shore. The dunes make the beach look like a sea. A footbath is really good for that.
A must see if you're in the area.

You walk in the shade between beautiful pine trees and then stand in the middle of sand dunes. You can't escape the chipmunks here. They basically follow you everywhere.

Unfortunately, this is only the planned tour imported - Komoot did not recognize a GPS signal. I hope it works again on the next tours. But to the tour, simply beautiful. A nature park on Lake Michigan, you walk through quiet forests in the shade over stairs and boardwalks and suddenly stand on a platform and see dunes and the "lake" in front of you. The lake is so huge, you don't see the shore, so it's like a sea with the dunes and the beach. And that's how hot it was. Before I ran to the beach, I made a detour through the White Pine Trail, always accompanied by chipmunks running back and forth between the threads without fear. As do squirrels. On the beach I was accompanied by a large butterfly, but it didn't want to be photographed. And yes, I treated my feet to some sea water - and it wasn't even too cold for me ;) That means something. At the end a short rest and something to drink - and back to the hotel. What a nice tip from my colleague.
