And again I sit at the airport and edit today's run. I wanted to try a completely different route today 🏃♂️. Running along the Harborwalk gives you beautiful views 🌊 – even though I usually don’t enjoy asphalt, here it’s absolutely worth it. From home in Back Bay I took "The T" -Green Line 🚋 and Red Line 🚇 - to JFK/UMass Station and started my run right there in the rain 🌧️. Later on it kept drizzling, cool and a bit misty. Unfortunately, I couldn’t take the bike today 🚴♂️ because of a time conflict – so running was the only option, and it turned out to be absolutely worth it ✅. From JFK/UMass the path leads right along the water 🌊, first to Carson Beach and then on to M Street Beach 🏖️. Wide waterfront paths with open views of the bay – you instantly feel that this is the coast, the coast of the Atlantic 🌎. When the wind blows in here 💨, it feels like a small taste of the open sea. The next highlight is the Pleasure Bay causeways 🌉 leading out to Castle Island. For me, this was one of the best parts of the run: water on both sides 🌊🌊 and straight ahead the Boston skyline 🏙️. Today, in the drizzle, it all felt a bit mystical – the clouds sometimes hiding the city, then revealing it again. On Castle Island you reach the impressive Fort Independence 🏰. There’s always something going on here – walkers, runners, families 👨👩👧 – and at the same time you get fantastic views over the Boston Harbor Islands and the entrance to the harbor 🚢. Not far away, on the same peninsula, is the JFK Presidential Library & Museum 📚. The building itself is striking, and inside you get a deep insight into the life and presidency of John F. Kennedy 🇺🇸 – his beginnings, the major political challenges, and the historic moments that defined him. You can really relive his time as president. For me, it’s one of the absolute highlights of Boston 🌟 and definitely worth a visit. The easiest way to get there is by shuttle bus 🚌 from JFK/UMass Station – originally meant for UMass students, but visitors can ride for free. The return leads through Moakley Park 🌳 and back along the Harborwalk to JFK/UMass. Once again you get new views of the water 🌊 and the skyline 🏙️. The Harborwalk itself stretches for over 40 kilometers 🛣️ through Boston – passing many other fascinating neighborhoods, parks, and sights 🏞️. It’s definitely worth exploring other sections too. Exactly the kind of route that makes you want to come back 🔁 – no matter if it’s sunny ☀️ or rainy 🌧️.
