Hiking
Here in Finistère, the world “ends” at a series of capes and rocky outcrops. The Pointe du Raz is one of the legendary highlights of the coast. The Pointe du Raz is up to 70 meters high and offers a sensational view of the lighthouse on the island of La Vieille and the island of Sein to the west.
The 15-kilometer circular hike begins in Plogoff and first takes you to the Baie des Trespasses, where the first surfers are already waiting for the wave. From there it is only a few meters to the Pointe du Raz, the westernmost point in France. The rugged cliff really seems to be the end of the world.
Then it goes along the coast on the GR34. You walk along a barren, treeless bank edge, which is populated by gorse, heather, ferns and other low-growing plants. Every now and then you will see mini harbors glued to the rocks of small bays and you will be accompanied by curious seagulls during the migration.
At the Pionte du Diameur you turn inland and are almost immediately swallowed up by lush green vegetation. Man-high ferns often line the paths or expansive trees provide cool shade. Sometimes the paths are almost overgrown and from time to time it continues on small streets. Soon you will reach the starting point of this great hike again.
