Neukirchen: Frühmesser loop

Today we took the cable car to the top station on the Wildkogel. We went on a wonderful little scenic hike up to the Frühmesser. We had fantastic views of the Hohe Tauern and the Wilder Kaiser range all the way. A fantastic hike.

A wonderful loop in the Wildkogel Arena! Really beautiful hiking trails, a little strenuous, but not too strenuous. The Hohe Tauern and, slightly hidden but still visible, the Großglockner remain in view. At the end of the loop, thunderstorms do gather, although it had only drizzled briefly before. We reached the top station before we arrived, but not the mid-station. We wanted to play it safe.

Today, due to the rain, we didn't climb the Wildkogel until 1 p.m. We had planned to do the Frühmesser circular route. First, we climbed to the summit of the Braunkogel. Then, we followed a ridge trail to the summit of the Frühmesser. Upon reaching the summit cross, we were able to add the next stamp to our stamp pass. The view of the Wildkogel and the surrounding valleys was very impressive. We recognized some of the paths and alpine pastures from our previous tours. On the way back, the rain caught up with us. We had to hurry quite a bit to make it to the mountain station in time for the final descent. Soaked to the bone and completely exhausted, we were finally in the gondola at 4:15 p.m. It was a beautiful route, but it needed more time and better weather.

Today we've decided to go to the Wildkogel Arena. The weather down here in the valley isn't promising. It's a thick soup outside the door. The webcam on the mountain shows us something completely different, we're excited. So we set off, or rather we let the gondola take us up first😇. I'd say it was worth it. We're blown away. What a panoramic view. We can hardly tear ourselves away from the fantastic view. . But we also want to hike a bit. First we go to the Braungogel and from there to the Frühmesser 2233m. Descent to the Gasleiterkopf. In a big circle back to the gondola. Today I persevered😇the altitude is really getting to me🤪. In contrast to our waterfall hike, it was almost deserted here, which was just fantastic. We can fully enjoy the nature and the peace. 😌
