It's nice that you can drive along the Weser all the way to Bremen. The path is sometimes narrow and sometimes wide, but always easy to drive on.

Trail Reviews

April 23, 2022, Bremen-Achim-Thedinghausen Runde

The outward journey to Achim was a bit tedious. Especially between the Hemelinger Marsch and Bierden the wind caught you completely from the front. On the other hand, the return trip from Thedinghausen (partly on newly paved bike paths) was considerably faster. The special on today's tour was the village of Lunsen and the heritage farm / tree park in Thedinghausen with a small picnic on the pus.

Very warm, almost too warm for the dog, but he keeps walking and sitting in the dog trailer. After all, something of Bremen has to be discovered. The way there to the left of the Weser is beautiful, often in semi-shade. It is more likely to drive behind the dyke than on top of it. But in front of Bremen...beautiful views of waters such as lakes, in which you can swim, fish, paddle and and...the bathing entrances invite you. We venture back through the port/industrial district and past Jacobs coffee. Then it goes through agricultural areas, limited lively. Shortly before Achim the "car" has us again with density and noise. We cross the wide bridge in the direction of Thedinghaus and return to the Thedinghausen tree park along wide roads. Next time we would rather go the same way back.

Today's bike tour took us along the Osterdeich past the Weserstadion toward Achim. After a break in Achim, we continued toward Thedinghausen. First, we had to cross the Weser River on the Gentsiet ferry. Via Thedinghausen, we returned to Bremen's old town.

The aim of this tour through the autumnally colored Wesermarsch was an exhibition (Svenja Wetzenstein / Evita Emersleben) in Haus Hünenburg

Cute SE wind, great café... only the way back leads over a rather monotonous landscape.

We set off from the boathouse in Achim, unfortunately in drizzling rain. But we didn't let that deter us, we pulled our hoods over our faces and off we went... we didn't regret it: it was an entertaining trip, (almost) always along the Weser, with lots of encounters with wildlife (rabbits, pheasants, cranes, deer, storks, horses...) and a wonderful landscape to look at. In Bremen it got a little hectic for a while with all the people, but we just got over it and were happy to have escaped the hustle and bustle on the way home along the dyke.

The day starts sunny at 7 degrees and my bike - at the back! 😳, is flat on the rim. So, first of all, get out the repair kit, watch a YT video and get to work. After 45 minutes, everything is back in top shape. (I think that's a good time for the first time 👍) Now it's time to get to the meeting point on time. 10 people, all on time with and without auxiliary motor. After just a few kilometers, it becomes clear that the group looks after each other well. The tour is modified along the way and we ride unplanned :-) via Thedinghausen. Unfortunately, we ride along the road quite a lot. It's bearable because of Sunday traffic. The side roads and cycle paths are not very busy, so we can ride next to each other and chat. The break at the Eyter for a snack in the 🌞 does us good. The sweet refreshment, heavenly cake with coffee in Achim before the finish straight, comes at just the right time. Rain clouds slowly appear, we pedal hard against the headwind and make it to the finish line dry. Great tour!👍🙋‍♀️

Why don't I just listen to the tips that say "never start a tour with a tailwind"? 🥴
