The Laghi Gemelli Refuge is located on the banks of the famous lakes of the same name, now incorporated into a single large artificial lake, in the Upper Brembana Valley, at an altitude of 1,969 metres. The refuge offers hikers a bar, restaurant and overnight stay characterized by a youthful atmosphere, excellent hospitality and traditional cuisine attentive to local products.
Along this circular route you will be able to pass by five different lakes, one more beautiful than the other, and admire the surrounding mountains. The most significant peak in this area is Pizzo del Becco, which dominates the surrounding landscape.
Various climbing itineraries have been traced on both the northern and southern sides. Other peaks that you can admire along this route are Monte Valgussera, Corno Stella, Monte Chierico, Pizzo dell'Orto, Pizzo Farno and the Cime di Mezzeno.
To reach the Laghi Gemelli refuge, follow path 211 which starts from the orographic left bank of the artificial lake of Carona. You zigzag uphill through a beautiful and steep fir forest for a long stretch until you meet path 213 which comes from the Fratelli Calvi refuge.
A little further on you arrive at the Lago Marcio dam and exit the woods. Walk along the entire shore of the lake, until you cross path 250 which leads to Lake Becco (which you will find at the end of this loop). Here you descend slightly to the left towards Lago Piano Casere, up to the bridge that crosses the Val di Gorno and from here, passing next to a long hut, climb up to the Laghi Gemelli refuge.
To return to Carona, instead of repeating the outward journey in reverse, you can follow a circular route and admire two other lakes. Cross the Twin Lakes dam, continue along path 214 which leads to Lake Colombo and then descend towards Lake Becco along path 250. From here you can take the same path again and arrive in Carona.

Change of plans we go to the Laghi Gemelli Refuge in Val Brembana. The path starts from Carona and needs sure-footedness because it is all rocks and roots up above Lake Marcio. There we enjoy the beautiful panorama of the peaks surrounding the lake and the meadows in bloom. Arriving at the Laghi Gemelli Refuge …
