Big Weissensee loop

If you are out and about with your bike in the region around Lake Weissensee, then you should not miss this wonderful tour! It takes you around the idyllic body of water, which shimmers in ever-changing shades of blue when viewed from near and far. Not only the view is fantastic: Here you can relax on the cleanest lake in Carinthia and enjoy the special healing climate. By the way, you also make a bit of an effort, because this tour also makes a few small detours into the surrounding mountains.

You start in Techendorf and circle the lake clockwise. Right at the beginning it goes steeply uphill, because the cycle path leads along the steep north bank around 250 meters above the water surface. From here the view of the lake is particularly beautiful! After a rapid descent you reach the east bank, where you can take a break at the lido. At the kiosk you can treat yourself to a snack or refreshment. There is a small jetty very close by, from which excursion boats depart across the lake. If you like, you can sail back to Techendorf from here.

Instead, the tour takes you further around the lake. It leaves the immediate shore, because there is no direct path along the water in the south. In the mountains on the surrounding pastures it is at least as beautiful. On the managed Fischeralm you can fortify yourself with regional delicacies and enjoy the beautiful mountains. Then just let yourself roll back down to the lake and enjoy the last few kilometers on the gravel bike path right by the water, which will take you back to the starting point of the tour in Techendorf.
