Travel by train one stop from Schluchsee to Seebrugg. The first kilometer from Seebrugg train station to the dam can easily be replaced by bus. The scenery isn't particularly scenic, as you walk right next to a federal highway. Otherwise, it's a very pleasant circular trail. It's mostly a wide path that you have to share with cyclists. Many beautiful views. A nice stop at the Unterkrummenhof farm. Those who like can reboard the train in the Aha district and skip the last 4 kilometers.
This morning I took the train with my "visiting dog" at 8:17 a.m. - still without breakfast 😅 - from Freiburg main station to the Schluchsee. From there we walked in the direction of the Schluchsee outdoor pool, in order to cross the tracks there - over a bridge. We then went right along the Schluchsee circular path. It was great that we were at the Schluchsee relatively early, because there wasn't much going on on the way. We walked a good distance along the Schluchsee-Jägersteig in the morning on the sunny side, which is a very nice route. There the ground was free of snow. A good distance before the Vesperhütte Unterkrummenhof, the dog and I 😄 took our first break. I had tea and a sandwich and the bitch also got a piece of cheese. We both enjoyed the idyll and the view of the Schluchsee. In the photos you can see the bitch taken from behind with her ears bent over 😄. As an exception, she sat next to me on the bench for a moment. Looking at the picture you can guess how she enjoyed the view of the Schluchsee and the glittering sun on it 😄. We went on and passed the Unterkrummenhof. The farm is soooo beautiful, with a wonderful view of the Schluchsee. There is also a playground and you can sit outside on the terrace! The guests enjoyed the sun. It looks super cozy on the terrace and it definitely invites you to linger! Take cash with you - as is usually the case in huts, you cannot pay by card. However, the dog and I walked on because there were two other large dogs on the terrace. Shortly after this Vesperhütte, the path is almost continuously very badly traveled. It was really a challenge to get back to the Schluchsee stop without broken bones, especially when you have a dog on a leash that pulls over and over or straight ahead every now and then 😅. Anyway, she gets very scared every time I wobble around behind her just before a fall 😅😂, but luckily I was able to balance myself every time.... I can only say: "Be careful!!!!". I was approached by a couple with a son, where the woman held a bloodied handkerchief in front of her nose. So I wouldn't be surprised if this was from a fall. In any case, the bitch (usually) listened to my commands very nicely and slowed down very slowly in the very worst places, but looked at me in surprise when I only took small steps over the worst ice surfaces 😁. A little later, an older couple walked towards me, walking unsteadily. I advised them to turn back because the path would become even worse - soon across the whole width - iced over. They took my advice to heart and turned back... About three-quarters of the way I stopped for tea again, right down on the lake shore. There the photos with the stones and the ice or the ice floes were taken. That looked amazing!!! With a good camera you could take great photos there… The dog and I walked on, past rock faces hung with many beautifully bizarre icicles. The dog always wanted to run. She loves the snow and then wants to sprint and romp around. However, for safety reasons and because there is a leash requirement around the lake, I did not let her off the leash. What struck me: Tied to trees, to bushes or along the way, I kept seeing full bags of dog poop. So I don't know if the owners think that someone will "pick it up"? 🤔 I really don't like it! After a while we arrived at the reservoir bridge, crossed it and also passed the Seebruck youth hostel, which is very close to the Seebruck train station. There at the station I saw that some people were already sitting in the sun waiting for the train. I checked online when the train leaves for Freiburg, saw that it leaves in half an hour, briefly considered whether I should stop my tour of the lake and wait there before I miss it (the next one would only be in the 1st hour), but then decided that my ambition would not allow me to break off 😂 and then simply put in a "turbo" for the rest of the walking distance - together with the dog. In the meantime it hadn't traveled any more. Luckily we reached the Schluchsee train station 10 minutes before the train from Seebruck came in the direction of Freiburg. The bitch was then received by my daughter - at the main station in Freiburg - and I ran home and now enjoy the rest of the evening.... 😍. The circumnavigation of the lake is beautiful - but currently still - dangerously slippery on a good half of the route - because of the ice on the way...!
A beautiful, approximately 19km circular trail, completely flat with plenty of places to stop for a break. There are also refreshment stops along the way. Bring your swimsuit in summer; there are plenty of places to swim along the way. And take the Dreiseenbahn cable car to Lake Titisee. Have a great day!
Route: very slippery up to 9 km (left side), then it gets better, sometimes slippery. Good paths on the right side. I wouldn't recommend running shoes, hiking shoes or cross-country shoes with good grip. Please no spices, it's just sometimes slippery!!! Schluchsee: Drinking water reservoir, water level low (no boats).
Today we walked around Lake Schluchsee. Since we followed the middle path from the dam, it was only a few meters along the B 500. A beautiful and successful tour that ended with a cold wheat beer. 🌞👍🍻
Today was the day, the Schluchsee was announced for 2023. After it was very windy and fresh in the morning, it got even better later on. As always, it was a nice round.
🌧️Another day without sun, but it was ALMOST dry and even a mini ray of sunshine in the morning! The rivers were full, 💧 paths were wet, mood was good 😁 During this hike I found some exotic mosses🌱 They thrive in this humidity :) 💫 I spent a very nice time in this region at the end of the year and documented some things here :) 📖 Until next time, dear Black Forest 🤗
Since the conditions for cross-country skiing were only moderate, we decided to go on a spontaneous winter hike around the Schluchsee. We chose the town exit in the direction of Faulenfürst as the starting and ending point. But you can also start directly from the Schluchsee train station (that saves a few meters). The excursion at the end of the tour in the direction of the town center served as a culinary reward. Depending on the weather and season, it was very easy to walk on surfaces ranging from icy over pushed paths to asphalted sections. At this time of year, the tranquility of the Schluchsee offers its special charm. If you are looking for peace and quiet, this time of year is just right for you.
