A day without rain - time for a short hike. After following the Shannon River in the morning, we arrived at Lough Derg in the village of Portumna. The parking space at the marina was full. But a parking lot at the entrance to Portumna Castle & Garden offered an opportunity for a hike 🤗 First up was the old castle, which burned down in 1826 and was only acquired by the Office for Public Works (OPW) in 1968 and has been painstakingly restored. It's still not finished 🤷🏼♂️ But you do get an impression of the stately, partially fortified castle in the 17th-century manor style. The café served delicious chai and sweets, perfect for a 10,000-calorie diet 😋 The most beautiful highlight, however, is the 'Walled Garden,' which a lady from Portumna revived. A beautiful mix of all kinds of crops, herbs, wild plants, and places to linger. I'm excited to see the Nikon pictures 🤩 Afterwards, a detour to the old abbey and the forest, some of which have become beautifully overgrown. ⚠️ Picture 50 is a hidden object game 😉 Very beautiful 🤗🤩
