The Ayous lakes loop is ideal for trail beginners who want to challenge themselves in the mountains while evolving in a magical setting. This route of 10 kilometers and 600 meters of elevation gain takes you into the superb Ossau valley, its forest, its lakes and its panoramas.
The start is in the free Bious-Oumettes car park, from where you take a path that climbs up to the Bious-Artigues lake. You are now on the GR 10 path which guides you through the forest to the plateau of the Ossau valley. The climb continues in the forest before reaching the second lake on your route, the Roumassot.
At the next lake, the Miey, you leave the GR 10 to climb between the two peaks of Arougos and Tours. You then begin the descending part of the course. You advance in a beautiful valley which leads you to the lake of Bious-Artigues which you bypass before reaching your starting point at the car park.
