Running

After two short courses, the third increases the distance by doubling the mileage. You leave again through the park of the Grande Maison. But this time, you turn west towards Gif-sur-Yvette and its forest. To get there, you climb steps for about a hundred meters at the second kilometer. This is the steepest slope of the course. If you want to harden your exit, you can linger there for a mini stairs session.

You then enter the forest which you cross from east to west. At the end, you discover a magnificent view of the Chevreuse valley. You also come across several bodies of water that punctuate the wooded setting of the forest paths. You go south and walk along a small wood, with a beautiful open landscape on the fields to your right.

You have arrived in the charming village of Gometz-le-Châtel, where there are some very charming little ponds. You have now completed two thirds of the course. You leave the town to head towards the Fauvettes viaduct. You cross it from below and draw a loop at the level of the Butte à Gornet. This small bump is a new opportunity to work on your uphill effort. Go back below the viaduct and return to the starting point by crossing the forest of Bures-sur-Yvette. There are only three kilometers left, you can throw your last strength by giving everything until the end!

Grande Maison Park

Highlight • Natural

This park owes its name to the bourgeois-style building present in the middle of its seven hectares of greenery. It is pleasant to run on its wide paths and along the Vaularon, a charming little stream that crosses it. Its basin also brings a little freshness.

Gif-sur-Yvette Forest

Highlight • Forest

The communal forest of Gif-sur-Yvette offers a beautiful setting for running. On wide rolling paths, you are protected from the sun in summer and from the wind in winter.

On the edge, you can get pretty views of the Chevreuse valley. Without forgetting other attractions such as small bodies of water or the large laricio pine native to Corsica at a crossroads.

At the edge of the woods, this beautiful flat path allows you to lengthen your stride with an open landscape over the fields to the west. If you need a little supply at the end of the summer or at the beginning of the fall, do not hesitate to pick a few blackberries from the shrubs along the path.

Mare de Gometz-le-Châtel

Highlight • Trail

It's hard to believe that you are so close to Paris when you pass through the pretty village of Gometz-le-Châtel. The town stands out in particular for its small ponds typical of Essonne.

If you're running through it, slow down to have a look. You may spot the different species of amphibians, birds and mammals that inhabit the grounds.

Below the viaduct

Highlight • Bridge

If crossing the Fauvettes viaduct offers great views, going under it is just as easy on the eyes. Coming from Gometz-le-Châtel, the small single track that leads there offers a pretty open landscape with the bridge in focus.

You may even see people climbing its pillars. Indeed, the practice of climbing has been authorized there since the 1970s.
