View of Lake Brienz

Highlight • Viewpoint

Lake Brienz is an Alpine edge lake embedded between the Emmental and Bernese Alps in the Swiss canton of Bern. Its steep banks also continue below the water level, so that there are hardly any shallow water zones.

Incredible route today, fantastic weather, and great group. I earned this one, my fitness not being where it was pre-accident -- I really had to grind out the climb. We started in Brienz and rode clockwise to take advantage of the car-free section at the top and to finish along the lake. The descent through Grindelwald tested my not-so-technical descending skills. I've not hiked in this area yet and what a gem it is. I cannot wait to return with a bike and trail shoes.

For my birthday, I'm treating myself to the Grosse Scheidegg 🎂🏔️🚴🏼‍♀️💃 I turned 39 today, and since I'm probably planning a big party next year, I decided to do exactly what I love most – ride mountain passes and take photos. And for that, I chose a very special mountain that's been on my bucket list for a long time: the Grosse Scheidegg. And what can I say, it was the most beautiful cycling day of my season so far 🥰 The scenery was absolutely amazing, almost too kitschy 😍 But it was also steep, actually totally okay, I just wasn't mentally prepared for anything over 12% in 35°C 😂 Highlights of the day: 1. Dipping my jersey in the fountain and putting it back on - I did it several times today 🧊💦😌 2. At the top of the pass, there was only one cyclist, and he asked me: "Do you know if there's any water around here?" (We were standing right in front of the Scheidegg Inn). 3. I stopped and took a photo of the waterfall on the Eiger North Face - suddenly, a hiker behind me called out, "It's amazing! It's amazing!" 🤣 4. Swiss cheese after cycling was simply the best. 5. And one of the most beautiful birthday messages today: “Happy Birthday, little Radl🚀” 🥰☺️

Well, the altitude information (uphill) is way off.

...from Meiringen a dream route with a phenomenal panorama

After a miserable night (half the time spent in the pool), I couldn't really get anything done on the tour without feeling like I had to work, as the people from the Palatinate say. So the uphill sections ended at Scheidegg. A beautiful climb with some pretty steep sections and when the post bus comes towards you and you can only avoid it on the narrow gravel strip, it's pretty hairy. But standing still isn't an option, I wouldn't have been able to click anymore. The descent is very steep, bumpy and there are cows. After that, your hands were also getting a workout. I really had an empty bottle, I was freezing with arm warmers and a vest in over 20 degrees. The view of the Eiger is beautiful and Grindelwald is completely crowded. Then I roll out along the lake

A very beautiful route without cars. Only the post office/public bus is allowed to travel here. A suitable gear is recommended, though. There are several fountains for refilling water up to Gr. Scheidegg – perfect.

"Dream tour" at its finest!!! In this case, with absolutely perfect weather. At least as a cyclist you save 2x 26 francs - that's how much the post bus costs up and down . . . 🤓 However, our "fuel consumption" was also relatively high considering the heat . . . From Grindelwald and Rosenlaui onwards, the road is closed to cars, which makes things a little more pleasant.
