The two climbs on Monte Ventoso are beautiful, a little challenging and on Verucchio softer. In the end it was worth a ride to the center of Santarcangelo up to the Tower passing through the old Aqueduct and instead of the busy Via Emilia it was better to go along the Marecchia river up to the Tiberius Bridge.

Frequently Asked Questions

Where can I start this cycling tour and find parking?

The tour is a ring route starting and ending in Rimini. While specific parking spots aren't detailed, Rimini offers various parking options suitable for cyclists. You can typically find parking near the city center or along the coast, depending on your preferred starting point within Rimini.

How challenging is the From Rimini to Verrucchio via Monte Ventoso - ring tour?

This is a moderate road cycling tour. It covers about 55.7 kilometers (34.6 miles) with an elevation gain of around 810 meters (2,657 feet). The main challenge is the climb to Monte Ventoso (also known as Passo Ventoso), which includes a particularly steep 18% gradient for the first 500 meters, followed by over 10 kilometers of continuous climbing. Good fitness is recommended.

What kind of terrain can I expect on this cycling route?

The terrain is varied. Initial sections from Rimini towards Verucchio along the Marecchia River can be flat, with some parts potentially having sandy gravel or pebbles, while others are wide and smooth. As you approach Verucchio, you'll encounter slightly tougher slopes. Much of the route features mostly well-paved surfaces, but some segments, especially on the climb, might be unpaved and difficult to ride.

What scenic views and landmarks will I encounter on the tour?

The route offers diverse scenery. You'll pass charming farmland, small vineyards, and experience a splendid river landscape along the Marecchia River. As you gain elevation, particularly around Verucchio and Torriana, you'll be rewarded with breathtaking views of the Valmarecchia Valley, the Riviera, and the Adriatic Sea. Don't miss the picturesque medieval town of Malatesta Fortress of Verucchio, which offers an enchanting panoramic terrace.

How long does it typically take to complete this cycling tour?

The tour typically takes about 2 hours and 51 minutes to complete, but this can vary based on your fitness level, speed, and how often you stop to enjoy the views or take breaks.

Is this a loop tour?

What is the best time of year to cycle this route?

Is this cycling route dog-friendly?

This is a road cycling route, and while dogs are generally allowed in public spaces, bringing a dog on a road bike tour, especially one with significant climbs and traffic, might not be ideal for their safety or comfort. If you plan to bring a dog, ensure they are securely transported and consider the strenuous nature of the ride.

No, there are no specific permits or entrance fees required to cycle this public road cycling route.

What gear setup is recommended for the climb to Monte Ventoso?
