Double Arch

Highlight • Natural Monument

Double Arch is the tallest arch in Arches National Park. This unique arch was formed by downward water erosion, rather than side-to-side arches like most of the other arches in the park, and allowed for two arches to share the same foundation their outer legs. This impressive feature towers above the desert floor and is a must-see if in the park. It is an extremely popular site (for good reason!), so be sure to try to get to the trailhead early.

North Window Arch

Highlight • Natural Monument

This is the Northern Arch of the Windows (or the Spectacles) formation. The trail takes you right up under this amazing arch! North Window Arch is separated from South Window Arch by what some call "the nose bridge." And while its hard to pry your eyes away from it, directly behind you sits Turret Arch, another amazing named feature in this famous area in the park, which is also worth your attention; you get great views of aThe Windows Formation from Turret Arch.

Turret Arch

Highlight • Natural Monument

Although this arch receives less attention to its next door neighbors, Turret Arch is yet another amazing formation in the Windows Area. Named for the small "turret" jutting up on one side of the arch, Turret Arch is certainly worth the visit if in the area and from its base, you also get amazing views of the Windows directly across from you.

Windows Primitive Trail Loop

Highlight (Segment) • Trail

This trail takes you back behind the Windows formation. You get great views of North and South Window Arch, as well as the rest of the Windows area and the park as a whole. This trail is a nice way to make the Windows Trail into longer loop and get you back to the parking lot on a different, fun, section of trail.

June 4, 2024, 🇺🇸 - Arches NP 🏜️ - The Windows Trail Loop - Balanced Rock 04.06.24

Arches National Park is so diverse 🏜️!!! The photos I put in this tour were taken throughout the national park! To enter the park, you have to book a "timed entry" online in advance, which prevents a mass rush 🚗🚕🚙🚌 and also overcrowded parking spaces 🅿️ at the various viewpoints! A good idea 👍

Windows section - large round mostly easy, a bit of "climbing" to get into or under the arches. But you don't have to for a nice photo. When you come around the next corner you can see the next arch, a window or a future window. Simply impressive!🤩

On the second attempt it finally worked. We were in the park. Here again there were very impressive rock formations. But now with lots of other interested people. There is a lot packed into a short distance.

After arriving at Arches National Park, we still have time, which we definitely want to use for two hikes thanks to the beautiful weather. The first leads to the "Windows," two natural stone arches ("arches"), and then to the gigantic "Double Arch." There are many tourists at this particular highlight of this rock formation; as we circle the Windows to the east on the Windows Sand Loop Trail, we are alone. Afterwards, we drive to Delicate Arch, the absolute highlight of the day. USA 2025: https://www.komoot.com/de-de/collection/3534240

Arches National Park is located in the north along the Colorado River and preserves the world's largest concentration of natural stone arches. The highlight of this relatively short hike was the Double Arch, whose arches are almost at right angles to each other.

Third and final hike of the day. The gusts of wind are really brutal and throw me off balance when I climb under the arches, the sand flies and stings my eyes, but despite these conditions, the walk is magnificent. What a great day!
