Mount Brandon Summit

Highlight • Summit

Take your time getting to the top, take regular breaks if needs be. The route up from the Brandon Pilgrimage car park is really well marked. Takes about 2 hours if you’re casually doing it, and hour and half for faster hikers. Take some layers for the top, even in the sun gets windy and very cold. Try to catch this peak on a clear day for spectacular views out to Dingle on south western side and North eastern out as far as Castlegregory and the Maharees.

From here you have a fantastic view of Mount Brandon (952 meters / 3,123 ft) and its subsidiary peaks Cummeennagnauv and Brandon Peak. The mountain takes its name from Brendon, the traveler. The Irish saint is said to have lived at the foot of the mountain and to have set out from here on his journey across the Atlantic.
