Pyhän Jyssäys Trail – Ruka-Kuusamo

The Pyhän Jyssäys Trail takes you deep into the fragrant, green forests near the popular ski resort of Ruka. You walk over creaky wooden planks, narrow, idyllic paths and take a first-class vantage point with you. You can take your break at a barbecue hut typical of Lapland. A perfect half-day tour!

The trail begins in the slums of Ruka and soon disappears between towering trees. From time to time you cross a few swampy areas, but wooden steps and wooden planks have been built over the trail so that your feet always stay dry. The path meanders idyllically towards the summit of Pyhävaara. However, it does not lead you all the way to the top, but opens up a wonderful view over the forests, fells and lakes around you from the so-called "small" Pyhävaara.

Here you will also find the traditional Lappish-style Pyhävaara barbecue hut with a toilet. Time for a break, because half of the route is already behind you. You now descend from the scenic hill again and pass the Hirsilampi, a pretty lake, on your right. The last few kilometers back to the parking lot are almost flat with a barely noticeable incline.
