This route was planned by komoot.
Departure and arrival from the Chalet del Lago car park carried out in a clockwise direction. Absolute lack of trail signs for three quarters of the route. Only thanks to Komoot's precision we didn't get lost. Difficult access to the path, you have to climb over the guard rail, after the piece of asphalt road downhill to the hairpin bend. The next 10 meters are also difficult, with a steep climb and precarious footholds. All without any reporting! The path in the woods is very beautiful, with points where you can admire the lake from above. About halfway down the descent you have to overcome a very short passage on rock secured with a steel cable. Once past the scree the route becomes flat but in my opinion rather monotonous. Be careful, some sections of the route are very slippery after rain.
Italy again 🇮🇹 We discovered this lake when we drove to the Soca Valley on our first day of vacation. We definitely wanted to go back. Because it was so sunny today, it was the perfect day to walk around it. We started at a hiker's parking lot, then walked along a dry riverbed. Then we climbed up the most adventurous paths (every day is an adventure!). It was beautiful, and despite the thrills, I can highly recommend it 🤣
Path around the lake; in some places poorly marked. At a certain point the path goes up but the path disappears and we find ourselves on the road near a tunnel that we managed to pass from the outside thanks to a very short equipped section. The lake in some places can only be glimpsed because of the thick vegetation.
River crossings, stream crossings, mini waterfall crossings included. Unfortunately a small section directly on the road, past the tunnel.
Done the ring counterclockwise. Everything was fine, everything was beautiful until the last meters before taking the road to Bovec. The last stretch takes place on a steep downhill stretch, surrounded by vegetation and iron beams of a rock-proof net. Evidently the section in question has collapsed. We reached the road but not without difficulties and risks. No preventive table that warned of the problem. Too bad, because it wouldn't hurt to finish the ring safely. I therefore recommend going around to where the climb begins on the opposite bank. Then retrace your steps
What else does the region around Tarvisio have to offer, we asked ourselves? And we came to this lake below the pass towards Slovenia. And as the weather gods would have it, we even enjoyed most of the walk around the lake in the sunshine. Very nice atmosphere with the high mountains all around. On one side you walk near the lake next to or below the road and on the other side a path leads a little up the mountain - so good shoes are recommended. On hot days you can also wear swimwear to cool off in the lake. It's refreshing, but nowhere near as cold as mountain lakes in Austria. We have tested this several times in the last few days - no comparison! 😊😉 We then took a short detour up the pass road to the Predilsattel batteries from the First World War. There was once a bunker complex or accommodation for up to 112 soldiers to monitor the southern positions against the Italian border. The whole thing is still in really good condition and can be viewed free of charge. When descending from there, we unfortunately didn't look at the komoot map enough once shortly before the end and therefore hiked the last part of the pass road down and through the tunnel, but we would have heard the pass road go up a bit so that we could follow the hiking trail would have caught in the valley
