Running

Whether in terms of distance or elevation, this stage is the most demanding. Especially since the places to refuel are rarer than the previous days. So pack your trail bag well and start the day with the climb to Mont Saint-Odile.

This mid-mountain summit is emblematic in Alsace because of the convent it hosts. Take the time to enter to visit it and why not stock up on food. You are only at the eighth kilometer, but you have to wait until the forty-second kilometer to find shops.

In the meantime, you run on the heights of the sanctuary. Then climbs and descents shorter than the first are linked on pretty wooded paths. Finally, near the small village of Klingenthal, the last real ascent awaits you. It takes you to the Heidenkopf and its famous tower overlooking the Rhine plain and the Black Forest.

There are then seventeen kilometers of descent and false flats to reach Obernai, the end point of this trip. How pleasant it is to relax in its charming Alsatian streets before reaching the station. Hoping to arrive early enough to offer you a last supply in one of its cafes before taking the train.

Landsberg Castle

Highlight • Castle

Below Mont Saint-Odile, this castle once served to protect the sanctuary. Stumbling upon it along the trails is a true delight.

Between Barr and Mont Saint-Odile, this pretty single trail is quite rolling. It therefore allows you to train to run both uphill and downhill.

Mount Sainte-Odile

Highlight • Settlement

Fantastic view. Historical and cultural highlight.
The monastery complex now also houses a hotel and a restaurant. The monastery can largely be visited freely and there are many corners to go 'into yourself'.
The place is widely known and popular, so it is usually well frequented.

Rocher des Géants

Highlight (Segment) • Natural Monument

After having reached the heights of Mont Saint-Odile, it is pleasant to run on its less steep paths. Between rocks, trees and atypical sculptures, the pleasure is all the greater when the view of the plain emerges.

Heidenkopf

Highlight • Viewpoint

Without the Mündel Tower, there would be no good view from the Heidenkopf, because the summit is densely overgrown. However, once you've got the steps behind you after the steep ascent, you'll be rewarded with a phenomenal 360 ° panoramic view - but be careful: duck your head on the last few steps ...

At the top there are boards all around, with which one can assign the closer (and more distant) sights.
There are several rest benches below.

With its large cross overlooking the city, the National Memorial of Forced Incorporated offers a magnificent view.
A perfect belvedere to punctuate a pretty trail outing ending in Obernai.
