This easy circular trail usually takes about 1 hour and 25 minutes to complete. It's a relatively short and enjoyable walk through the forest.
Yes, it's considered an easy walk suitable for all ages and fitness levels, including families with small children. It has minimal elevation changes and is well-signposted.
The trail immerses you in a beautiful laurel forest with moss-covered trees and vibrant green ferns. Parts can be muddy, especially the initial downhill section. You'll encounter exposed roots, rocks, and some steps, but the latter half often widens and becomes more level.
You'll experience the unique Laurisilva Forest, a highlight of Garajonay National Park. Keep an eye out for the intriguing Ghost tree and enjoy a stop at the Las Creces Picnic Area, which you'll pass twice on the Las Creces Circular Trail.
The trail is a circular route, and you can typically start from a designated parking area. The path leads downhill from there to a picnic spot before continuing the loop.
While lovely year-round, April and May are particularly good months to visit due to blooming geraniums on the forest floor. The constant shade makes it enjoyable even on sunny days.
Yes, this route covers significant sections of other official trails. It aligns with 97% of the 'Ruta 5: Las Creces' trail, 92% of 'El Camino de Santiago entre Volcanes', and 78% of 'Camino Natural Cumbres de la Gomera - Etapa 3'.
As this trail is located within Garajonay National Park, specific regulations regarding dogs may apply. It's best to check the official park rules or local signage regarding pet access before your visit.
Garajonay National Park generally does not require an entrance fee or permits for hiking its trails, including the Las Creces Trail. However, it's always advisable to check the official park website for any updated regulations or specific requirements before your visit.
The trail offers a peaceful and enchanting atmosphere. The dense laurel forest provides constant shade, and the presence of clouds can create a 'ghostly mist' among the trees and hanging moss, adding to its unique charm. Hikers often describe it as incredibly quiet, with only the sounds of birds.
Given the potential for muddy sections and exposed roots, sturdy hiking shoes are recommended. Layers are also a good idea, as the forest provides shade and can feel cooler. Bring water, especially if hiking on a warmer day, and perhaps a snack for the picnic area.
Easy loop through the cloud forest near Las Creces! The clouds had given no meaningful reason for a larger round in the national park.
This forest is always beautiful with its old, gnarled trees, the windy canopy of leaves and the squeaking noises of the branches traveling together... that enlivens the imagination...
La Gomera's World Heritage Site was our destination today. With its ancient laurel forests, the Garajonay National Park offers a quiet and shady break for hikers. Also of interest was the island's oldest dragon tree "Drago de Agalán" near Alajeró, which is 400 years old (picture). This small tour, only 2 km long, is located south of the national park, so I won't publish it here...
A short but nice tour to get you started on La Gomera, and for me. Easy tour to enjoy in a relaxed manner. Not for whining flip-flop wearers. I'm hoping for some more great tours here. However, I don't want to neglect relaxation, and hiking shouldn't dominate my entire vacation like it does for others. Enjoy following along. 👋👋👋
A wonderful circular route through the rainforest. The route runs consistently in the shady forest. At the stopover in Las Hayas you will be rewarded with a beautiful view over Las Hayas and the sea.
A beautiful circular hike through the shady laurel forest from the car park on the main road to the church of Las Hayas and back. The trail is worth it as an introductory hike, as it runs largely through the shady laurel forest and has only slight differences in altitude.
A beautiful hike leads from Las Hayas into the laurel forest of the Garajonay National Park and is very impressive due to its lush and varied subtropical vegetation.
Easy and very nice tour for almost everyone. Also suitable for children.
