What a hike! It can easily be included in the list of the funniest hikes. Why? So: Today at noon we arrived at the parking lot next to the youth hostel because the weather was supposed to be nice by noon. So we started hiking without any problems, but the fog/clouds didn't want to lift yet. Who cares, there is a weather station on the Feldberg (Friedrich-Luise-Turm), so the forecast should be correct. But at the latest from the Bismarck memorial it was clear: it won't work. In fact, at the top of the highest mountain in Baden-Württemberg there was absolutely no view 🌫️. We even noticed the two people present with us at the last moment 😱!!! We thought it was funny and didn't let it spoil our fun 🤣, there's enough to discover right in front of your feet: heather, countless blueberries, the leaves of the yellow gentian, Bärwurz, beautiful roots, tons of black slugs and drops of water on trees, bushes and spider webs. When we reached the east side, the weather cleared up. We were as good as alone on the road, we only met two youth groups and scattered hikers. This is probably very rarely the case on the Feldberg, but we really liked it. At the end we were even able to catch a glimpse of the "Wetter-Schätz-Turm" (= weather station), which we had previously walked past completely blind 👩🦯👨🦯 😂. We didn't see the TV tower either, although we were standing right in front of it - it's still noted in the highlights 😉🤗. Even if we didn't see much at times: the Feldbergsteig took second place in 2007 in the hiking magazine's most beautiful day hikes. For Feldberg (mountain) see e.g. https://de.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Feldberg_(Berg_im_Schwarzwald) For the pleasure trails in the Black Forest, see e.g. https://www.schwarzwald-tourismus.info/erleben/wandern/geniesserpfade For the Black Forest see e.g. https://de.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Schwarzwald
Since we are currently hanging around in the Black Forest, we naturally had to go hiking on the Feldberg. Well, we knew that the trip wouldn't be an insider tip, but we hadn't expected so many fellow hikers. There are also hardly any benches to rest on the route, but there are many serviced huts, which are ok sometimes, but not all the time... It was too much commercialism for us and parking in the multi-storey car park alone cost 12 euros... Well, you can do it, but you don't necessarily have to.
https://www.hochschwarzwald.de/touren/geniesserpfad-feldbergsteig-9800dccd10 The landscape is fantastically beautiful, unfortunately the vistas up to the Zugspitze and Switzerland from the summit of the Feldberg at 1,493m above sea level. Autumn is certainly the most beautiful season to hike in the Black Forest, these colors ... Challenging paths, uneven, rooted, stony, slippery, narrow, but a very, very great hiking trail. On the way back to Freiburg, approx. 45 km away, stopped at the Titisee.
A day of hiking with colleagues. Our hiking guide chose the Feldbergsteig for us today. We were able to enjoy the Feldbergsteig in perfect hiking weather, and it wasn't even that busy. The Raimartihof and Feldsee are a must-see. A great day of hiking.
The classic in the Upper Black Forest. Sometimes on wide, sometimes on narrow, stony and rooty paths with many vantage points. Small brooks rush down into the valley and the cowbells can be heard from afar. Just perfect 👍💚👍👍
After I stood on the Feldberg two days ago and then decided not to hike because of my physical condition and the weather, today is the second attempt.✌🏻😊 I'm feeling better and the weather is great. So I take the bus to the Feldberger Hof again and start my hike on the Feldbergsteig. It starts and ends at the house of nature. First of all it only goes up. I can take a short rest at the Bismarck monument. From here you have a wonderful view of the surrounding mountains and the Feldsee. I continue towards the summit. Halfway I am asked if I am the ranger. I answer that I would like to. I look a bit like that. Next time I'll take my traditional hat with me to look even more authentic. 😂 I explain the way as requested, then I reach the summit at 1493 meters. I've never been so high in hiking boots.🥾 An employee at the Haus der Natur told me that the Feldberg is only seven meters short of being a high mountain range. That is bitter. The view from the summit is moderate, I was hoping for more. But on the way here I already had wonderful views of the surrounding area, which are really very impressive. It's beautiful here in the Black Forest. 🌲🌲 By the way, from the Feldberger Hof to the summit there is a path that is barrier-free, as far as I can see. My next destination is the St. Wilhelmer Hütte. It's right on the Feldbergsteig, it basically runs through the courtyard.😉 First get rid of something. Just squatting in nature is not possible here, because everyone can see you. So far I've only hiked along meadows and pastures on which there is only a few trees. But nobody dies of thirst on the Feldbergsteig. Every few kilometers there is a hut with a restaurant. 🍨🍰☕🍺 For the first time in my life I drink an elderberry spritzer, which is very tasty. 🥤 After a short stay I move on. A pasture with cattle is waiting for me. The cattle are restless and moo loudly. Great, and I have to go through this now. But when I get closer, they take off - except for one. She's watching me and I don't trust her. When I'm past her, she runs away too. Phew, these creatures!😅 Now I can finally get into the forest. After a few meters, at a small crossroads, I meet a couple of hikers who don't agree on which way is the right one. She wants the official one, he wants the shorter one. Both lead to the goal. I advise on the routes (my new ranger job😉), in the end it prevails and they go the official route.👏🏻 On the way I always have magnificent views in the distance. But the paths are difficult to walk. I climb over stones and step over roots. It doesn't matter if it's up or down. I'm kind of struggling today. There are many hikers on the way, which tugs at my concentration. I also feel under pressure when someone is walking behind me.😐 At some point I reach the beautiful Feldsee, which lies quietly in front of me. It is surrounded by tall spruce trees and looks as if it has been painted. It's amazing what nature has created here. The hiking trail leads around the lake for a bit, then the last climb lies ahead of me. Can't say more about hiking. Actually it is not a path at all, but a rocky something. It zigzags up. On the way I meet the hiking couple from earlier who didn't want to come to an agreement. They have reached the summit and seem to understand each other again.😊 Shortly before the finish, at the Feldbergbahn Seebugg valley station, there is great excitement. Sheep stand in the middle of the hiking trail and in the adjacent forest. The shepherd, a man who seems to be 80 years old, with a straw hat, a cane and a headset on his ear, drives his flock of sheep around. They must have gotten away with it. Three herding dogs help him. Cool, he keeps whistling at them and calling out orders. A few times he drives his T4 and trailer across the meadow and rounds up the animals himself. The herd consists of around 200 animals. There are also a few goats. While shepherds and dogs work in the pasture, the gondolas of the mountain railway travel above them - a wonderful picture. I immediately wallow in memories: when I was a little girl, I used to bottle-feed the Christmas lambs on our farm when their mother didn't give any milk. To this day I eat neither lamb nor mutton. I just can't bring myself to do that.🥰🐏🐑 Later, I go to the old shepherd's, when he's frantically working on a hydrant to supply the herd with fresh water. When I asked, I found out that there are 600 animals. Just off!😂🙈
An absolutely fantastic tour around the Feldberg with everything that goes with it. Steep climbs, cow pastures like in the Allgäu and fantastic views. Definitely worth recommending.
A wonderful and beautiful hike with wonderful views. If you're lucky, you can even see the Alps. There are many huts along the route where you can take a break. At the beginning you miss the beautiful hiking trails because you walk more or less on well-developed paths to the summit. That changes when you leave the summit and leave the St. Wilhelmer Hut behind you. Shortly afterwards we go along a hiking trail to the right and things get great from there. It goes up and down on stony paths, narrow paths and across meadows. When you arrive at Feldsee, you can take a breather and enjoy the view before the final climb begins. Overall, a great piece. Good shoes are mandatory.

The Schluchsee is the largest lake in the Black Forest - reason enough to look at the body of water from different angles. The 70 square kilometer Schluchsee is the focus of the twelve kilometer long Jägersteig trail.
The tour starts at the "Im Wolfsgrund" hiking car park or alternatively at the Schluchsee

Hii
Mega nice this will be my next tour. Quick question does the hike start from a parking lot? Since I'm starting by car? Can this tour be done all year round or rather in spring? Thanks in advance for feedback
