Gravel riding
Centred in the heart of the national park, this short loop is the perfect introduction to gravel riding in the New Forest. This flat 13-mile (20 km) circuit is mainly on compact gravel, making it suitable for all abilities. There are some short sections of road through the villages of Brockenhurst and Lyndhurst.
Starting at Brockenhurst, you'll complete a triangular shaped loop using woodland gravel tracks where you can cycle two abreast. Look out for the iconic New Forest pony at the beginning of the Tour on the open healthland at Beachern Wood.
The halfway point is Lyndhurst, the 'capital' of the New Forest. It’s centred around a bustling one-way street with shops, cafes, pubs, restaurants and hotels. Don’t miss the Woods Cyclery, a popular cycling cafe with a bike shop at the eastern end of the High Street.
The final leg mirrors the first half of the route on the opposing side of the A337. You’ll cut through dense woodland inclosures on well-surfaced gravel trails then arrive back in Brockenhurst to complete the loop.
